UWEC's Hayner Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-Eau Claire defenseman Tara Hayner helped her team to two NCHA wins last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Hayner, a sophomore from Stillwater, Minn., helped the Blugolds to 4-3 and 4-2 NCHA wins over Finlandia last weekend. The four points secure UWEC's spot in the NCHA playoffs. In her team's 4-2 win on Saturday, Hayner tied the game, 2-2, with a goal at 2:20 of the third period. She then scored a power-play goal at 16:34 to put the game away. She has scored four goals and has eight points this season.

Also nominated were: UW-River Falls forward Kelly Jensen and UW-Stevens Point forward Kim Lunneborg.

Feb. 14, 2005

LFC's Bevis Named NCHA Player of the Week
Lake Forest goalie Sally Bevis helped her team to a 0-0 overtime tie at UW-Stevens Point on Saturday and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Bevis, a sophomore from Huntington, N.Y., stopped all 38 shots she faced against UWSP. On Friday she made 30 saves in a 3-1 loss at UW-Eau Claire. She finished the two games with a 1.44 goals against average and a .958 saves percentage. She has a 5-7-5 overall record this year with a 2.19 goals against average and a .928 saves percentage. She has recorded three shutouts.

Also nominated were: UW-River Falls goalie Marlene Yaeger; UW-Stevens Point defenseman Jennifer Dorff and UW-Eau Claire forward Christa Hubert.

UWSP's Schmitt Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-Stevens Point forward Jackie Schmitt helped her team to two NCHA wins last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

UWSP beat UW-Superior, 2-1, and UW-River Falls, 2-0, to win the 2005 NCHA regular season championship. It is the second regular season title for the Pointers.

Schmitt, a 5-5 senior from Buffalo Grove, Ill., scored her team's first goal at UWS that tied the game, 1-1. It was a power-play goal. At UWRF she scored her team's second goal in the third period to give the Pointers a 2-0 lead. She is tied for second for UWSP in scoring with 12 goals and 24 points.

Also nominated were: UW-River Falls forward Leah Baron and UW-Superior goalie Kristy Faechner.

UWS's Kegley Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-Superior forward Erin Kegley helped her team to two wins last week and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Kegley, a 5-4 sophomore from Inver Grove Heights, Minn., scored seven goals and added three assists for 10 points in her team's 5-0 and 8-3 wins over Finlandia. In Friday's win she scored three goals and had one assist and she came back on Saturday to score four goals and two assists. She had three power-play goals. She is UWS's top scorer with 22 goals and 33 points.

Also nominated were: UW-River Falls forward Lou Paulson; UW-Stevens Point forward Ashley Howe and Lake Forest forward Lindsey Wild.

UWRF's Lindner Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-River Falls goalie Amber Lindner came up with a big effort to help her team to a 1-0 win last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Lindner, a 5-6, sophomore from Moorhead, Minn., helped the Falcons to a 1-0 win at UW-Superior on Sunday. She stopped all 38 shots she faced to get the win and help her team snap an eight game losing streak. She had nine saves in the first period, 17 in the second and 12 in the third. It was her first shutout of the season and the third of her career. She has a 4-3 record this year with a 2.00 goals against average and a .916 saves percentage.

Also nominated were: UW-Superior defender Tara Evoy and UW-Stevens Point forward Ashley Howe.

UWSP's Lunneborg Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-Stevens Point forward Kim Lunneborg helped her team to two wins last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Lunneborg, a 5-1, junior from Richfield, Minn., helped the Pointers to 3-1 and 3-0 wins against Lake Forest. She contributed on five of the team's six goals in series sweep. She had a goal and two assists in Sunday's 3-0 win and a goal and an assist in Friday's 3-1 victory.She got the game winner in Sunday's win.

Also nominated was UW-Superior forward Erin Kegley.

FU's Leitch Named NCHA Player of the Week
Finlandia University defenseman Ashley Leitch helped her team win its first ever win and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Leitch, a 5-5 freshman from Garden City, Mich., scored the hat trick in her team's first ever win on Dec. 18, a 4-3 overtime decision at Hamline. She scored her team's first goal in the second period to tie the game, 1-1. FU then fell behind, 3-1, but Leitch scored two third period goals to send the contest into overtime. Her third goal came with the Lions on the power play with 7:05 to play. She also picked up an assist in a 5-2 loss at Hamline. "Ashley proved to be the pivotal player for us. She finished with four points and battled hard on every shift," Lions Coach Chris Salani said.

Also nominated were; Lake Forest forward Katie Snowden; UW-Stevens Point forward Kim Lunneborg; UW-Superior forward Jamie Cincotta and UW-Eau Claire forward Amber Stevenson.

UWSP's Statz Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-Stevens Point goalie Amy Statz helped her team to two NCHA wins last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Stats, a 5-4 sophomore from Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., played in her team's 3-0 win over UW-River Falls on Friday and in the team's 4-2 win over UW-Superior on Saturday. She stopped all 33 shots she faced in the win over UWRF and made 17 saves in the win over UWS. She finished the week with a .962 saves percentage.

Also nomionated were; UW-Eau Claire defenseman Allie Campbell and UW-Superior forward Erin Kegley.

UWSP's Howe Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-Stevens Point forward Ashley Howe helped her team to two NCHA wins last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Howe, a 5-8 senior from Lakeville, Minn., helped the Pointers to 5-0 and 4-3 wins at Finlandia. She scored the team's first two goals and an assist in Friday's 5-0 win. On Saturday she had two assists and the game-winning goal in the 4-3 win. She scored one power-play goal, one short-handed goal and two game-winners.

UWSP's LaClair Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-Stevens Point goalie Julie LaClair helped her team to a 7-0 win last week and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

LaClair, a 5-5 freshman from White Bear Lake, Minn., made 18 saves in her first collegiate game to get the shutout and the win. The victory improved UWSP's record to 4-0-0 overall.

UWEC's Schultz Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-Eau Claire forward Amanda Schultz helped her team to a 2-2 overtime tie at Lake Forest last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Schultz, a junior from Stevens Point, assisted on UWEC's first goal of the game to tie the score, 1-1. After Lake Forest took a 2-1 lead, she scored the game-tying goal in the second period.

Also nominated were; UW-Superior forward Erin Kegley; UW-River Falls forward Lou Paulson; UW-Stevens Point forward Ann Ninnemann and Lake Forest forward Laura Wilson.

LFC's Bevis Named NCHA Player of the Week
Lake Forest goalie Sally Bevis helped her team to two wins last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Bevis, a sophomore from Huntington, N.Y., helped the Foresters to a 3-0 win on Friday and a 2-1 win on Saturday. She earned her first career shutout on Friday and did not allow a goal until midway through Saturday's third period. She stopped 48 of the 49 shots taken.

Also nominated were; Stevens Point forward Liz Goergen; Superior forward Erin Kegley and River Falls goalie Marlene Yaeger.

UWRF's Wallace Named NCHA Player of the Week
UW-River Falls defenseman Jenny Wallace helped her team to two wins last weekend and has been named the NCHA Player of the Week.

Wallace, a sophomore from Buffalo, Minn., helped lead the Falcons to a 6-2 win at St. Catherine and a 7-0 win over St. Benedict on Saturday in River Falls. In Friday's win she scored what proved to be the game-winner in the second period. She had two assists. On Saturday she scored one goal, the team's fifth of the game.

Also nominated was Lake Forest defenseman Darby McGrath.
