2004 Falcon Golfer of the Week

Ellen Berndt (Sr., Rice Lake, Wis.)
helped the Falcon golf team to its best finish ever at the WIAC Meet held last weekend at the par 73 Stevens Point Country Club. She placed second overall with a two-day total of 162. Her 80 on Sunday was the third best score of the day. She opened with an 82 which placed her second on the leader board. The Falcons were just one stroke from a tie for second place in the final team standings. Berndt was also named the WIAC Scholar-Athlete, which is presented to the most outstanding senior from each conference sport during the year who exhibits the greatest combination of performance and achievement in academics, athletics and leadership. "She had a great and well deserved weekend," Falcon Coach Jeff Berkhof said.

Oct. 4, 2004

Gabe VanDyk (So., Luverne, MN) was the Falcons top finisher at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational played Saturday and Sunday at the Fond du Lac Whispering Springs Golf Club. She finished the first day with an 88 and came back to shoot three strokes better, 85, on Sunday. "Gabe played very well," said Falcon Coach Jeff Berkhof. Par on the course was 72.

Sept. 27, 2004

Ellen Berndt (Sr., Rice Lake, Wis.)
had three strong rounds in two meets for the Falcons last weekend. The Falcons placed fourth in the Carthage and Whitewater Invitationals. She had the best finish for the team at the Carthage Invite, tying for fifth place, with a round of 82. Par was 72. She was also the top finisher for the Falcons during the UW-Whitewater Invitational, placing 15th. She shot two rounds of 85, giving her a two-day total of 170. Par was 72. "Ellen had three good days of golf, and she definitely proved that she is a top player in the WIAC," said Falcon Coach Jeff Berkhof.

Sept. 20, 2004

Casey Ambers (Sr., North Branch, MN)
had another strong outing for the Falcons at the Concordia-St. Paul Invitational held Saturday and Sunday. She placed fifth overall with rounds of 87-86 for a two-day total of 173. Par on the course was 72.

Sept. 6, 2004

Ellen Berndt (Sr., Rice Lake, WI)
was the team's top golfer at the Eau Claire Invitational held last weekend. She led the Falcons with a two-day total of 168. She placed 10th overall shooting an 88-80. Par was 73 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday. The Falcons finished ninth, with 720 strokes, in the 13-team field.
