
Seven NCHA Players Named to AHCA All-America Teams

Seven NCHA players have been named to the first and second CCM American Hockey Coaches Association 2005 West All-America teams. Four players were named to the first team and three to the second. St. Norbert defenseman Ryan Tew and forward Jason Deitsch, UW-River Falls forward Garrett Larson and UW-Superior forward Mike Wiggins were all named to the first team. UW-Superior defenseman Dale Lupul, St. Norbert goalie Kyle Jones and UW-Superior forward Kyle Nosan were all named to the second team. Tew, a senior, was named to the All-NCHA team for the third straight year in 2005. He was named to the first All-America team in 2004 and the second All-America team in 2003. He finished with three goals and 12 points in NCHA play and eight goals and 34 points in all of St. Norbert's games. He finished fourth on the team in scoring. He was named to the first All-NCHA team in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Deitsch, a senior, was named to the first All-NCHA team in 2005, 2004 and 2003. He was also named to the first AFCA team in 2004 and 2003. Deitsch led St. Norbert in scoring with 16 goals and 47 points. He finished with five goals and 19 points in NCHA play. He was named to the first All-NCHA team in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Wiggins, a senior, was named the NCHA's
Player of the Year in 2005. He was the top goal scorer in the NCHA
with 13. He finished second in points in league games with 22. He led
the NCHA with eight power-play goals and three game-winners. In 25 games
for UWS he had 30 goals and 47 points, tops on the team. In 2005 he was
named to the first All-NCHA team and he earned honorable mention to the
2004 team. Lupul, a senior, was named to the second All-American team in 2004. He was named to the first All-NCHA team in 2005, 2004 and 2003 and earned honorable mention honors in 2002. In 2005 he scored three goals and had 29 points in all UWS games and he scored one goals and 17 points in NCHA play. Nosan, a senior, was named to the All- NCHA team in 2004 and 2005. This year he was second at UWS in scoring with 12 goals and 39 points. In NCHA play he scored six goals and had 18 total points. Jones is the only freshman named to either the first or second teams in 2005. He was named to the first All-NCHA team in 2005 after leading the league with a 1.15 goals against average, a 9-0-1 record and a .950 saves percentage. In all games he finished with a 17-1-1 record with a 1.76 goals against average and a .924 saves percentage. Others named to the first West team were; goalie Adam Henna and defenseman Darryl Smoleroff, both of St. John's. Others named to the second team from the West were Gustavus Adolphus defenseman Keith Detlefson, St. John's forward Scott Bjorklund and St. Thomas forward Anthony Blumer.
