St. Norbert Gets No. 1 Seed in NCAA West Regional

St. Norbert, which won the NCHA regular season and Peters Cup playoff championships, earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Div. III Championships West Regional.

This is the fourth straight year the Green Knights, 24-2-3, have been the No. 1 seed. SNC will host a quarterfinal game on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Corernstone Community Center in Green Bay.

SNC will host St. Thomas, a 4-1 winner at St. John's in an NCAA first round game played on Wednesday. St. Thomas is the No. 3 seed in the West and has an 18-7-3 overall record. St. Thomas is one of only two teams to beat SNC this year - the Tommies took a 5-3 win at home on Nov. 5. It's the last game that SNC lost in 2004-05.

Six teams will compete in the East Regional and all of thoese games will be played on Saturday.

No. 6 New England (17-11) will be at No. 1 Manhattanville (21-3-1); No. 5 Curry (19-5-3) will be at No. 2 Middlebury (20-4-3) and No. 3 Trinity (19-5-3) will be at No. 4 Geneseo (18-6-4).

UW-Superior, which finished 19-3-7 overall, did not receive an atlarge berth after finishing second in the NCHA regular season standings and runner up in the Peters Cup NCHA playoff championship series.
