
SNC Loses, in Overtime, in Finals

St. Norbert lost a 1-0 overtime decision to Middlebury in the NCAA Div. III Championship game played Saturday night in Northfield, Vt. MC's Kevin Cooper scored the only goal of the game 2:58 of the overtime stanza. It was his 35th goal of the year and he was assisted by Brian Phinney and Mike Kennedy. SNC goalie Chancy Colquhoun made 32 saves and ends the year with a 16-2-2 record. MC's Marc Scheuer stopped 29 shots and finishes the season 17-2. SNC had five minor penalties and MC was called for three. MC, which finished with a 27-3 record, outshot the Green Knights 9-5 in the first period and 13-9 in the second. SNC had a 13-9 advantage in shots in the third period. Both teams had two shots in overtime. The title was MC sixth. SNC, winners of the NCHA regular season and playoff championships, ends its season with a 27-3-2 record. The Green Knights were playing in their first NCAA title game. |
