
St. Norbert Wins NCHA Peters Cup Title

St. Norbert beat UW-River Falls, 2-0, to win the NCHA Peters Cup Championship Saturday night in Ashwaubenon. St. Norbert scored the only goals of the game in the first period. Andy Cote gave the Green Knights a 1-0 lead when he scored his 21st goal of the year at 3:48 with assists to Kelly Wosnack and Tyler Gow. The Falcons picked up a penalty and just 14 seconds later Spencer Carbery scored a power-play goal, his 18th of the year and seventh power-play goal of the season, with assists to Jason Deitsch and Ryan Tew. The goal came at 9:21.This was the first game of the 2004 season that the Falcons did not score a goal. It was St. Norbert's seventh shutout of the year and 34th straight win at home. Falcon goalie Andy Scanlon made 30 saves and SNC's Chancy Colquhoun stopped 23 shots to record his sixth shutout of the season. With the win St. Norbert earned the NCHA automatic berth into the NCAA Div. III Championships. The Green Knights won their second straight Peters Cup title and the school's four playoff title overall. St. Norbert won the 2004 regular season championship, the sixth in school history. St. Norbert has won three straight NCHA regular season titles. Sunday the bids and pairings will be announced for the National Championships. |
