SNC, UWS Earn NCAA Berths

Regular season champion, St. Norbert, and playoff champion, UW-Superior, have earned berths into the 2002 NCAA Div. III national championships.

SNC (23-4-2) has the No. 1 seed in the West. UWS (20-5-4) is No. 2 and St. Thomas (22-5) is No. 3. UWS will host St. Thomas on Wednesday (March 6) in a play-in game. The winner will play at St. Norbert on March 9-10 in a best two-out-of-three game series.

UWS earned the NCHA's automatic berth with a 4-3 overtime win over St. Norbert in the league's championship game. SNC earned an at large berth on the strength of their regular season and playoff records.

In the East field, No. 6 Wentworth, Mass. (23-5) plays at No. 1 Middlebury, Vt. (24-1-1) on March 9-10. No. 5 Plattsburgh State, N.Y. (20-8-2) plays at No. 2 RIT, N.Y. (23-2), on March 8-9 and No. 4 Bowdoin, Maine (18-4-3) plays at No. 3 Norwich, Vt. (24-4) on March 8-9.

The four quarterfinal winners will play in the semifinals and finals on March 15-16 at a site to be determined.
