Feb. 14, 2005 Sikich, a 5-11, 185 pound senior from Apple Valley, Minn.,
scored two goals and dished out two assists in the Falcons 5-2 victories
over UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point. He scored two goals, including
the game winner, against Eau Claire and he assisted on the first two Falcon
goals against Stevens Point. Sikich also played well on the defensive
end limiting the two opponents to only 44 shots combined. He is fourth
on the team in scoring with nine goals and 22 points. Feb. 7, 2005 Canal, a 5-8, 170 pound sophomore from Thunder Bay, Ont., helped LFC to a 6-3 win over UW-Stout on Friday and a 3-2 win over UW-River Falls on Saturday. He assisted on two goals, including the game winner, in the win over Stout. He scored the Foresters first two goals, and assisted on the game winner, in the team's win on Saturday. The two league wins improved LFC's NCHA record to 6-6-0, and into fifth place. LFC is just one point out of fourth and two out of third place, with one weekend to play. Canal leads LFC in scoring with 14 goals and 31 points. Also nominated were: UW-Superior forward Mike Wiggins; St. Norbert goalie Kyle Jones, UW-Stevens Point forward Ryan Kirchoff and UW-Superior forward Mike Wiggins. Jan. 31, 2005 Scanlon, a 6-4, 210 pound junior from Apple Valley, Minn., made 36 saves for the Falcons as UWRF topped UWS, the No. 1 ranked team in the USCHO poll. He recorded first shutout of the season and the fourth of his career. He is 5-3-2 this year, with a .922 saves percentage and a 2.24 goals against average. Point forward Adam Kosticha, UW-Superior forward Myles Palliser and St.
Norbert forward Jason Deitsch. Wiggins, a 5-6, 165 pound senior from Calgary, Alta., helped the Jackets to a 4-1 win over UW-River Falls and a 2-1 overtime win over UW-Stout last weekend. UWS improved to 7-0-1 in NCHA play and is tied for first place in the league standings. The Jackets are the only undefeated team in the league with a 14-0-5 overall record. Wiggins started the weekend by scoring two goals in the win over UWRF. He came back on Saturday scoring both of his team's goals in the overtime win. The game winner came with just 32 seconds to play in overtime. He has scored a league leading 22 goals and has 31 points, which ties him for second in scoring in the NCHA. Also nominated were: St. Norbert forward Kurtis Peterson, UW-River Falls forward Tony Sikich, UW-Stout goalie Mike Stone and UW-Eau Claire goalie Steffan Braunlich. Jan. 17, 2005 SNC won at UW-Stout, 8-5, and at UW-River Falls, 3-2, to remain in a tie for first place in the NCHA standings. Schultz, a 5-9, 195 pound junior from Sonningdale, Sask., scored three goals and had one assist for four points in the two games. He scored both game winning goals on the road trip. Schultz's marker in the third period proved to be the difference against Stout as St. Norbert scored five third-period goals. He also had a first-period goal against Stout. Schultz then scored the lone third period goal as St. Norbert broke a 2-2 tie to post a 3-2 triumph at River Falls. Also nominated were: UW-Stout defenseman Mike Kautz; UW-River Falls forward Jared Sailer; UW-Stevens Point forward Tom Vernelli, UW-Superior goalie Mathieu Bonnelly and St. Scholastica forward Daren Richardson. Jan. 10, 2005 Jones, a 6-0, 200 pound freshman from North Delta, B.C., allowed just one goal in two games. SNC topped Lake Forest twice, 3-0 at home on Friday and 4-1 at LFC on Saturday. He made 42 saves in the two games and finished the series with a .977 saves percentage. Before Holiday break, Jones recorded a 2-0 shutout over St. Scholastica. He finished just 3;48 shy of posting three straight NCHA shutouts in his first three league games. Also nominated were: Dale Lupul of UW-Superior, UW-River Falls forward Steve Moe, UW-Stevens Point defenseman Nate Sorenson and UW-Eau Claire forward Pete Eloranta. Dec. 13, 2004 UWRF's Larson Named NCHA Player of the Week Larson, a 6-2, 200 pound senior from Park River, N.D., helped lead the Falcons to 5-1 and 4-1 wins over UW-Stout. In Friday's win he scored two goals with both coming with the Falcons on the power play. On Saturday he scored the three goal hat trick. He scored the game-winning goal and had one power-play goal. Larson leads UWRF in scoring wtih 14 goals and 22 points. He has scored eight power-play goals and two game-winners. Also nominated were: UW-Eau Claire forward Pete Eloranta; UW-Stevens Point forward Brent Halverson and UW-Superior defenseman Dale Lupul. Dec. 6, 2004 UWSP's Brolsma Named NCHA Player of the Week Brolsma, a 6-0, 170 pound senior from Appleton, Wis., helped the Pointers to a 7-4 win over UW-River Falls and a 5-5 tie against UW-Stout. He scored one goal, a short-handed goal, and had six assists in the two games. He became just the fourth player in UWSP history to record five assists in a game. He assisted on each of his team's first five goals against UWRF. The five assits in a game ties a NCHA record. He picked up his 100th career point in the win. He scored a short-handed goal and had one assist in the tie with UWSt. Also nominated were: UW-Superior defeseman Dale Lupul; St. Norbert goalie Kyle Jones; UW-Stout forward Andrew Stearns and UW-Eau Claire forward Rob Ouimette. Nov. 29, 2004 UWS's Wiggins Named NCHA Player of the Week UWS topped St. Thomas, ranked No. 8 in the USCHO poll, 5-3 on Saturday. The 5-6, 165 pounder from Calgary, Alta., scored four of his team's five goals, including his team's first three goals of the game. Also nominated were; UW-Eau Claire forward Phil Cherneski; UW-Stout forward Andrew Stearns; UW-Stevens point forward Adam Kosticha and St. Norbert forward Jason Deitsch. Nov. 22, 2004 SNC's Carbery Named NCHA Player of the Week Carbery, a 6-0, 200 pound forward from Victoria, B.C., scored four goals and had one assist in the two contest. In Friday's 5-3 win over St. Olaf, he scored two goals and had one assist. In Saturday's 8-2 win over Gustavus Adolphus he scored twice, one while his team was on the power play. Also nominated were; UW-Eau Claire forward Chip Dunleavy; UW-Stevens Point forward Adam Kostichka; UW-River Falls forward Matt Jackson and UW-Superior forward Yann Porier Nov. 15, 2004 UW-St's Erickson Named NCHA Player of the Week Erickson, a 5-8, 165 pound freshman from Rochester, Minn., had three assists in his team's 5-4 win at UST on Saturday. Two of the assists came in the final five minutes of the second period as Stout tied the game. His third assist also tied the game early int he third period. He also picked up an assist in a 4-3 loss at St. Mary's on Friday. Also nominated were; forward Kyle Nosan of UW-Superior; forward Tyler Canal of Lake Forest; forward Troy Boisjoli of St. Norbert; forward Dan Francis of Stevens Point and goalie Dan Meneghin of River Falls. Nov. 8, 2004 UWEC's Ouimette Named NCHA Player of the Week UWEC beat Bethel, 8-2, on Friday, and the Blugolds lost, 5-4 in overtime, on Saturday to Hamline. Ouimette, a senior from Iron Bridge, Ont., scored two goals and had an assist on the game-winning goal against Bethel. He came back on Saturday and scored a goal and had two assists. Also nominated were UW-Superior forward Mike Wiggins, UW-River Falls forward Garrett Larson, UW-Stevens Point forward Tom Vernelli and UW-Stout forward Andrew Stearns. Nov. 1, 2004 CSS's Rossa Named NCHA Player of the Week Rossa, a 6-2, 215 pound junior from Surrey, B.C., scored four goals and had one assist in his team's 7-7 overtime tie against Lawrence and a 6-2 win over Marian. He scored two power-play goals and had an assist against Lawrence and added two more goals against Marian. Also nominated were UW-Stout forward Scott Sikkink and UW-River Falls forward Josh Schlipp. |
