SNC's Coghlin Named 2005
Men's NCHA Coach of the Year

Feb. 28, 2005

St. Norbert's Tim Coghlin led his team to the 2005 NCHA regular season championship for the fourth straight year and has been named the league's 2005 Coach of the Year.

Coghlin, in his 12th season with the Green Knights, led the team to the 2005 title finishing with a 12-0-2 record. The title was SNC's seventh overall since joining the league in 1994-95 season. In the past four years Coghlin has led the Green Knights to a 47-3-6 (.892 winning percentage) NCHA record. This is Coghlin's third Coach of the Year award - he previously won it in 1998 and 2002. He has a 241-81-27 career record. Coghlin has led St. Norbert to four NCHA Peters Cup playoff titles (1998, 1999, 2003, 2004) and two NCAA Div. III Frozen Four appearances. SNC has earned six NCAA Div. III playoff berths.

Coghlin has a long and strong history within the NCHA as a player also. He captained UW-Stevens Point's first national championship team in 1989. He was an assistant coach with the Pointers when they won the NCAA Div. III National Championship in 1993 and finished runner-up in 1992. He was a two-time All-American defenseman, and a three-time All-NCHA selection at UW-SP, where he was recently inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame and ranks 12th on the all-time scoring list. Coghlin was named to the 1989 NCHA All-Academic team.

The award is voted on by league coaches and has been presented since 1982.
