Wrestlers Lose to UWSP
Feb. 9, 2002
Heavyweight Nate Demulling picked up a win, but the Falcon wrestling
team lost a 54-4 decision to UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon at the
Knowles Building.
Demulling beat Tim Lium, 8-1.
The Falcons will next host the WIAC Championships on Sunday, Feb. 17
at Karges Center. Action starts at 10 a.m.

Wrestlers Compete at UWEC Invite
Feb. 2, 2002
The Falcon wrestling team earned 3.5 points at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational
on Saturday.
At 174 pounds, Josh Puig lost to an Eau laire wrestler in the quarterfinals.
In the consolation bracket he took a 3-2 win over a Platteville opponent
before being pinned at 1:40 by another Platteville wrestler.
At 184, Neil Happel won a first round match over an Oshkosh opponent,
3-1. He lost a major decision to a Stevens Point wrestler in the next
round. In the consolation round he won a 9-8 decision over an Oshkosh
wrestler before losing to a Whitewater wrestler, 13-5.
At heavyweight Nate Demulling won a first round match over an Eau Claire
wrestler, 10-3. He lost in the quarterfinals on a pin to an Oshkosh wrestler
in :58. He then lost in the consolation round to an Oshkosh wrestler,
7-3.
The Falcons will next host UW-La Crosse on Friday at the Knowles Building.

Neil Happel picked up the Falcon's points at 184 with a 9-6 win over Josh
Frie.
The Falcons will next travel to UW-Whitewater on Jan. 29 for a 7 p.m.
match with the Warhawks.

The Falcon wrestlers lost a 39-11 decision at St. John's Saturday afternoon.
Falcon heavyweight Nate Demulling started the match on the right foot
for the Falcons taking an 18-4 win over his opponent. Josh Puig picked
up three more team points at 174 with a 10-4 win. Falcon 184 pounder Neil
Happel got the final four points for the Falcons with an 11-2 win over
his oppoent.
The Falcons will next host UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday at the Knowles
Building. Action starts at 7 p.m.

The Falcon wrestlers lost in two dual meets Wednesday night at the Knowles
Building.
Oshkosh beat the Falcons, 39-6. Winners for the Falcons were Nate Demulling
at heavyweight and Josh Puig at 174. Demulling beat his opponent, 6-2
and Puig took a 7-3 win over his opponent.
St. Olaf beat the Falcons, 30-25. Three Falcons won matches. Neil Happel
won at 184, 12-1, Joel Esala won at 141 with a pin at 4:56 and Puig won
at 174, 7-2.
The Falcons will next wrestle at St. John's on Saturday with action starting
at noon.

Wrestlers Place 13th at St. Cloud Invite
Dec. 8, 2001
Heavyweight Nate Demulling placed sixth to help lead the Falcon wrestling
team to a 13th place finish at the St. Cloud Invitational on Saturday.
The Falcons finished with 18.5 points. North Dakota State won the team
title with 150.5 followed by Augsburg 148.5, Mary 89, St. Cloud 85.5,
Northern State 56, Eau Claire 45, Southwest State 41.5, Dickinson State
39.5, Moorhead State 32.5, Waldorf 24.5, St. John's 21.5, Ridgewater CC
21, UWRF 18.5, Concordia-Moorhead 18, UM-Morris 17 and Rochester CC 12.
Demulling pinned his first opponent in 4:17. He then was pined in the
second round in 4:09. He came back to win a 10-4 decision, but then lost
a 3-0 decision in the match for sixth place.
At 141, Joel Esala lost by a fall at 2:16 in his first match. At 157,
Jesse Sterr lost by a pin in his first match in 3:56. He then won by default
and next lost an 11-1 decision. At 174, Josh Puig lost by a fall at 2:01
in his first match. He came back to win a 3-1 decision, but then lost
by a fall in his third match in 1:35.
At 184, Neil Happel lost his first match, 17-6 and then won his next
match, 5-4. (No other results were available) At 197, Larry Moen lost
his first match, 11-2. He was pinned in 3:07 in his second match.
The Falcons will next compete in the North Country Invitaitonal on Jan.
5 in Northfield, Minn.
Falcons Grapplers Compete in River Falls Duals
Dec. 1, 2001
The UW-River Falls wrestling team dropped all four dual meets in the
River Falls Duals held Saturday at the Knowles Recreation Building.
The Falcons lost to Corcordia, 33-12. William Penn's gold team defeated
River Falls in the second round, 44-3. The team's closest contest came
against Itasca'a 'B' team, but the Falcons fell, 27-21. The team then
lost its last match, 40-9, to Luther College.
Heavyweight Nate Demuling finished the day with a 2-1 record. Demulling
beat his opponents from Concordia and Luther but lost against his opponent
from William Penn.

The UW-River Falls wrestling team lost their second dual meet of the
season, falling to No. 18 UW-Platteville, 52-3, at Williams Fieldhouse
Tuesday night.
The Falcons lone win of the meet came at 197 pounds where Larry Moen
defeated Jason Glodowski, 9-4.
The grapplers will next compete in the River Falls Duals will which will
be held on Saturday.

Falcons Drop Dual Meet at Carleton
Nov. 21, 2001
The Falcons opened their dual meet season with a 34-12 loss at Carleton
College Tuesday night.
Kevin Farhnam won a 9-4 decision over Matt Erki at 149 pounds. At 165
Jesse Sterr pinned Frank Brodie in 4:07. The other Falcon points came
at heavyweight where Nate Demulling won an 11-5 decision over Cody Brown.
The Falcons will compete in the Northern Open on Friday with action starting
at 8 a.m. in the Knowles Building. On Tuesday the Falcons are at Platteville
for a dual meet that starts at 7 p.m.
