Melissa Mattson, Holly Olson, Joy Nicholson and Meggan Klassen have all been named to the 1999 AVCA All-Midwest Region volleyball team.
Mattson, a 6-1, junior middle hitter from Alden, Minn., was second on the team with 424 kills and she led the team wiht a .304 hitting percentage. She finished second in blocks with 19 solo and 97 assists.
Olson, a 5-5, junior setter from Woodbury, Minn., led the team with 1,594 set assists and 61 aces. She had 294 digs, third on the team.
Mattson and Olson were both named to the team in 1998
Nicholson, a 6-1, sophomore hitter from River Falls, Wis., led the team with 493 kills and she had a .216 hitting percentage. She was second in aces (47), second in digs (395) and third in blocks (9-64-73).
Klassen, a 5-10 senior hitter from Mountain Lake, Minn., was third on the team in kills with 398 and third with a .263 hitting percentage. She led the team in bocks with 32 solo and 116 assists for 148 total blocks. Earlier all four were named to the 1999 all-WIAC team. Mattson, Olson and Nicholson were named to the first team and Klassen received honorable mention.
The Falcons finished their season with a 30-7 overall record and won the WIAC regular season title with an 8-0 record. The Falcons competed in the 1999 NCAA Div. III championship for the fourth time in the last five years.
