Jessica Badger

MH, 6-1, Freshman, Lake City, Minn.
Lincoln High School

High School: Lincoln High School, Lake City, Minn...two-time letter winner...All-Hiawatha Valley Conference player...club team Hastings...played softball... Personal: Parents Richard and Marie... majoring in animal science... Coaches Comments: "Jessica has a great physical stature, she will need time to adjust to the fast pace of the collegiate game."

 

Sara Carlson

OH, 5-7, Junior, St. Paul, Minn.
Harding High School

Sara Carlson solidified a starting position during the 1997 season as a defensive specialist. In the 1998 season her role will be increased to the outside hitting position. She is a solid ball-control player who will do a majority of the Falcons passing this season. Carlson is the type of player you want to handle the serve reception as much as possible. In the off-season she has become a smarter hitter and has learned a couple more shots. Carlson is the type of player you consistently want on the court. She is intelligent and knows the game well. She gives the team several intangible skills and talents. She is majoring in pre-veterinary medicine. She is the daughter of Richard and Patricia. Her prep coach was Dennis Amundson.

Andrea Ellsworth

United South Central High School

Andrea Ellsworth will be challenging for the Falcons starting setting position. Ellsworth is a "workaholic" in and out of the gym. Every time she steps into the gym, whether it's for practice or a match, she's giving 110 percent. Her work ethic brings the level of competition up and makes the players around her play harder and better. Ellsworth loves the game and that is one of the reasons she will be successful. She is the daughter of Greg and Meredith. She is majoring in social work. Her prep coach was Pete Beckerman.

Lisa Erickson

MH, 5-11, Freshman, Saginaw, Minn.
Proctor High School

Lisa Erickson is another good athlete with a good work ethic, and when you put those together she's going to be a good player. She has worked hard and improved in all aspects of her game. A redshirt her first season Erickson will be a year stronger and smarter. The Falcons look for her to add depth to the middle hitting position. She is the daughter of Curt and Jackie. She is majoring in geology. Her prep coach was Terry Erickson.

 

Lucy Fisher

S, 5-9, Freshman, Appleton, Wis.
Xavier High School

High School: Xavier High School, Appleton, Wis...three year member Appleton Fox River Foxes club team...four-year letter winner...captain...two-year starter...Personal: Parents Charles and Joyce Fisher...majoring in environmental science... Coaches Comment: "Lucy is a nice suprise and addition for the Falcons. She has a great deal of experience, but will need some additional time to develop."

 

Becky Hylland

MH, 5-10, Sophomore, Chatfield, Minn.
Chosen Valley High School

Becky Hylland is another "workaholic." Every time Hylland leaves the gym, she has gotten better and that's not necessarily a tribute to the coaching staff, as it is to herself. She walks on the floor, she works hard and is constantly learning. Physically she has the tools, offensively and defensively, to develop into a dominate middle for the Falcons. Hylland will be challenging for one of the middle hitting positions. She is the daughter of Ray and Nancy. She is majoring in health and human performance. Her prep coach was Sara Duxbury.

Beth Imdieke

RH, 5-9, Junior, Bloomington, Minn.
Jefferson High School

Beth Imdieke is a fundamentally sound volleyball player who is capable of playing several roles for the Falcons. She is an outstanding passer and defensive player, but has the offensive skills to play any position. Imdieke's versatility and experience will help the Falcons add depth to the outside and rightside hitting positions. She is majoring in business. She is the daughter of Gary and Vivian. Her prep coach was Doug Bergman.

Meggan Klassen

MH, 5-10, Junior, Mountain Lake, Minn.
Mountain Lake High School

Meggan Klassen is a year stronger since she secured a starting position during the 1997 season when she lead the Falcons defensively with 1.08 blocks per game. She also produced 1.81 kills per game. Klassen jumps well and is a very good athlete with excellent blocking skills. The Falcons look for her to take another step this season. She is majoring in elementary education. She is the daughter of Carol Lehman and Ron Klassen. Her prep coach was Steve Chapin.

Melissa Mattson

MH, 6-1, Sophomore, Alden, Minn.
Alden-Conger High School

Melissa Mattson will be not only one of the Falcons biggest threats offensively, but just her presence on the court will be intimidating. In her "rookie" season she contributed to the offensive attack with 1.85 kills per game. She is the type of athlete who has the skill and ability to dominate the offense as a middle hitter. The Falcons look for Mattson to pick up where she left off last season. She is the daughter of Dennis and Nancy. She is majoring in agriculture business. Her prep coach was Vikki Pence.

Michelle Mattson

Sara McKee

Coaches Comment: "Sara is a great athlete. She has the potential to develop into a dominate outside hitter for the Falcons. Sara will be challenging for one of the outside hitting positions."

 

Joy Nicholson

OH, 6-0, Freshman, River Falls, Wis.
River Falls High School

Joy Nicholson joins the Falcons after playing a season at the University of Minnesota. A redshirt freshman she has been trained by one of the best technicians in volleyball and has played with some of the top players at the University of Minnesota. Nicholson will be an immediate impact player for the Falcons at either the outside or rightside hitting position. She is the daughter of Gerland and LaJean. She is majoring in political science. Her prep coach was Kathy Bullis.

 

Holly Olson

S, 5-5, Sophomore, Woodbury, Minn.
Woodbury High School

Holly Olson will be called upon to lead the Falcons as the setter for this year's team. She gained valuable experience in her "rookie" season playing in 72 games and recording 9.03 assists per game. She has excellent setting skills and could emerge as on of the top setters in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. As she accepts the challenges of setting and directing the Falcon offense. She is the daughter of Larry and Sue. She is majoring in horticulture. Her prep coaches were Dave Preller and Mark Kashke.

Liz Ryan

OH, 5-8, Freshman, Forest Lake, Minn.
Forest Lake High School

Liz Ryan transfers to UW-River Falls from Anoka-Ramsey, Minn., Community College and will compete for the first time on the collegiate level. She is a good athlete with a strong work ethic and has come in and picked up skills and techniques quickly. She'll play either right of left for the Falcons. She is the daughter of James and Sandra. She is majoring in health and human performance. Her prep coach was Joan Paulson.

 

Leigh Saxton

DS, 5-7, Freshman, Jackson, Minn.
Jackson High School

A redshirt freshman, Leigh Saxton will be called upon to pick up the defensive duties left behind by four-year starter Tammy Thompson. She is going to be a great addition to this team, both from a practice and game standpoint, because of her natural instincts and touch on the volleyball. In time she will be an impact defensive specialist and passer for the Falcons. She is the daughter of Bob and Peggy. She is majoring in business. Her prep coach was Kelly Benson.

 

Linda Schoenrock

MH, 5-10, Senior, Finlayson, Minn.
Hinckley-Finlayson High School

Linda Schoenrock came a long way during the spring season. She is a good athlete and will be looked upon to add some depth to the middle hitting position. She is physically strong and will help the Falcons as she gains more experience and confidence in her game. Majoring in physical education. She is the daughter of Dareld and Susan Schoenrock. Her prep coach was Jenyne Beehler.

Carrie Schwane

OH, 5-8, Senior, Kasson, Minn.
Kasson-Montroville High School

Carrie Schwane will be called upon to step into a starting role in her final year of competition. Schwane is an explosive jumper with tremendous desire to succeed. A fierce competitor she has come a long way and there is no doubt she can be an offensive weapon. Schwane will be not only one of our biggest threats offensively, but just her presence on the court from a leadership standpoint will be a plus. She is majoring in marketing communications. She is the daughter of Wally and Sherry. Her prep coach was Ron Prigge.

Sara Tibesar

RH, 6-0, Senior, St. Paul, Minn.
St. Agnes High School

Sara Tibesar joined the Falcons after playing two seasons at NCAA Div. II powerhouse North Dakota State University. She was an immediate impact player for the Falcons playing in all 120 games in the 1997 season. She lead the Falcons in kills and was given honorable mention to the all-WIAC team. Physically she is capable of dominating at the net from a hitting and blocking standpoint. She is another player the Falcons will look to for leadership and will fill the rightside position which will give the team added offensive power. She is majoring in education. She is the daughter of Rich and Judy. Her prep coach was Terry Cartwright.

She is a good athlete with a strong work ethic and has come in and picked up the skills and techniques quickly. Wolfe will need to gain another year of experience while challenging for an outside hitting position. She is the daughter of Lynn and Tom. She is majoring in marketing communications.
