Meet the Falcons

Becky Hylland
#3, 5-10, Senior, Middle

Chatfield High School


Becky Hylland will be a year stronger since she secured a starting position during the 2000 season when she played in 33 matches. The Falcons look for her to take another step this season to help the team secure one of the top spots in the WIAC. She is the daughter of Ray and Nancy. She is majoring in health and human performance.


Michelle Mattson
#8, 5-11, Senior, Outside

Michelle Mattson has come a long way since last year and there is no doubt that she can become a primary offensive weapon for the Falcons. Michelle is an exceptional athlete who has exceeded expectations. She is showing steady improvement and uncommon determination in helping the Falcons stay on the top of the tough WIAC. Michelle is the daughter of Dennis and Nancy. She is majoring in business.


Jennifer Haake
#16, 5-10, Junior, Middle

Jennifer Haake is another good athlete who has worked extremely hard during the off-season to improve physically and technically. Jennifer is a solid player and will add to the depth of the middle hitting position. She is the daughter of Laurie Haake. She is majoring in health and human performance.


Stacy Hinz
#17, 5-8, Junior, Right side

Stacy Hinz had a great 2000 season for the Falcons and had valuable playing time. Stacy is a dependable player. There is no doubt that she can give the Falcons valuable minutes at either the outside or right side hitting position. She is a steady and reliable performer who hits the ball as hard as anyone in the WIAC. She is the daughter of Tom and Louise. She is majoring in elementary education.


Hillary Keene
#18, 5-7, Junior, Defensive Specialist

Hayward High School


Hillary Keene is an exceptional athlete with a tremendous desire to succeed. When you put those two things together you get a quality player. Hillary made great strides during the spring and will contend for a defensive position. She is the daughter of Barb and Jeff Chiszar and Mike Keene. She is majoring in chemistry/pre-med.


Sara McKee
#20, 6-0, Junior, Right side
Marshall, Minn.
Marshall High School


Sara McKee brings the most experience to the Falcon line-up playing in all 38 matches last season when she recorded 177 kills. Sara has also worked hard to improve her overall game and it will pay great dividends. The Falcons look for her to take another step up this season. She is the daughter of Keith and JoAnne. She is majoring in business and health and human performance.


Karen ZumMallen
#14, 5-9, Junior, Outside
Grand Rapids, Minn.

Grand Rapids High School


Karen ZumMallen played a significant amount in the Falcon lineup during the 2000 season, primarily as a defensive specialist. Karen is a solid ball-control player, who needs to be in the Falcon line-up. Hitting-wise Karen has come around. She plays very smart - it doesn’t matter if the block is formed or not, Karen has a shot to hit around it. Karen does whatever she needs to get the job done. She is the daughter of Mike and Brenda. She is majoring in accounting.


Kristin Brandt
#11, 5-10, Sophomore, Middle
Woodbury, Minn.

Woodbury High School


Kristin Brandt has worked extremely hard in the off-season and it will pay great dividends. The Falcons look for her to give quality time throughout the season at the middle hitting position. Kristin will get better and stronger with more court time. She is the daughter of Kevin Brandt and Deb Casurella. She is majoring in elementary education.


Jennifer Braun
#6, 5-4, Sophomore, Outside
Morristown, Minn.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School


Jennifer Braun played in 28 matches for the Falcons during the 2000 season. Jennifer is a solid volleyball player and has great court sense. Jennifer plays the game with efficiency and detail. She commits very few errors and finds a way to get the ball to the floor. The Falcons look for Jennifer to contend for an outside hitting position. She is the daughter of Bruce and Valerie. She is majoring in psychology.


Krystle Brune
#7, 6-0, Sophomore, Outside
Oakdale, Minn.

Tartan High School


Krystle Brune returns as one of the most experienced players from the 2000 season when she became an immediate impact player for the Falcons. Krystal played in all 38 matches last year. She collected 413 kills averaging 3.06 per game. A hard-hitting and smooth athlete, look for Krystle to take another step during the 2001 campaign. She is the daughter of Ron and Kathy. She is majoring in health and human performance.



Sarah Halverson
#9, 5-7, Sophomore, Outside
Apple Valley, Minn.

Apple Valley High School


Sarah Halverson played in 29 matches and played a vital role as defensive specialist. Look for Sarah to emerge as one of the top defensive players in the conference. A natural passer, Sarah will do a majority of the team’s passing this season. She is the daughter of Jane Halverson. She is majoring in communications.


Logan Kiesch
#5, 5-8, Sophomore, Outside
Delano, Minn.

Delano High School


Logan Kiesch joins the Falcons after playing one season at NCAA Div. II Concordia-St. Paul. She is a solid, hard-hitting outside hitter and will provide depth to the outside and right-side hitting corps. She is the daughter of Carol and Manfred. She is majoring in biology education.


Amy Lundberg
#1, 5-3, Sophomore, Setter

Amy Lundberg looks to continue in a fine lineage of Falcon setters. As a young setter, her challenges will be taking on the responsibility and understanding her role as a leader on the court. Amy is very athletic and displays amazing court savvy. She analyzes very well on what she needs to do during different situations. She is the daughter of Dave and Sue. She is majoring in communicative disorders.


Erin Oberholtzer
#12, 5-6, Sophomore, Setter

North High School


Erin Oberholtzer enters her second season for the Falcon volleyball program after serving as a setter for the JV team. Erin is a spirited hard-working competitor, Erin has great instincts for the game and will be able to display them either at the setting or defensive specialist positions. She is the daughter of Carl and Carol. She is majoring in health and human performance.


Molly Schock
#4, 5-7, Sophomore, Setter
River Falls, Wis.

River Falls High School


Molly Schock played in only eight matches last year, but has come a long way in the off-season. Molly is an all-around athlete who will share duties at the setting position and will help the Falcons put forth a potent attack. She is the daughter of Ron and Debbie. She is majoring in health and human performance.


Melissa Tvrdik

Melissa Tvrdik will be a big surprise to a lot of people, but not to the Falcons who have seen her throughout the spring season. Her improvement as a middle hitter has been phenomenal. The Falcons look for Melissa to be a primary offensive weapon. She brings a lightning-fast arm swing and strong slide hitting to the offense. She is the daughter of Douglas and Theresa. She is majoring in psychology.


Natalie Peterson
#2, 5-7, Freshman, Outside

Natalie Peterson is a transfer from Augustana, S.D. College where she did not compete in volleyball. Natalie is a solid outside hitter and will provide quickness and ball control to that position. She is the daughter of Vern and Cheryl. She is majoring in communicative disorders.

Nina Petersen comes into the Falcon volleyball program after having a highly successful high school career. Nina has all the tools to compete with the Falcons as a first-year player as a right side hitter. The "lefty" will add additional variety to a potent Falcon offense. And her presence at the net will help the team’s defensive scheme. Like most first-year players she will look to improve her passing and defensive skills. She is the daughter of Jeff and Kay. She is majoring in chemistry.
