Falcon Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

April 28, 2003

Track
Dan Booth (Jr., Hayward, Wis.)
ran the 800 for the first time this year and had a time of 2:02.6 at the Macalester Twilight meet held Wednesday. He also ran a leg with the Falcon 4x400 relay team.

Field
Erik Olson (Fr., Shoreview, Minn. Mounds View HS)
had two solid results in field events at the Macalester Twilight meet held Wednesday. He finished third in the discus with a toss of 43.56 -meters and sixth in the shot put with a 12.37-meter effort. His effort in the discus places him in the top 15 on the WIAC Honor Roll list.




April 21, 2003

Track
Darrin Soderberg (Sr., Baldwin, Wis. Baldwin-Woodville HS)
had a solid run in the 400 hurdles at the Carleton Invitational held Saturday in Northfield, Minn. He finished the race in 58.34 and placed 11th overall. "Darrin took two seconds off his time from last week and is now in the top 15 in the WIAC in the event," Coach Don Glover said.

Field
BJ Poore (Sr., Osseo, Wis. Osseo-Fairchild HS)
performed well several field events at the Carleton Invitational held Saturday. "BJ competes in the decathlon and has make great improvements in all of the field events. He's working hard in all of the events," Falcon Coach Don Glover said. At Carleton he threw the shot 28-5, the discus 73-11 and the javelin 96-10.


April 14, 2003

Track
Jim Felling (Sr., Albany, Minn.)
had a strong race in the 10,000-meter run at the St. Thomas Invitational. He placed first in a time of 36.14.68.

Field
Erik Olson (Fr., Shoreview, Minn. Mounds View HS)
placed in two events at the St. Thomas Invitational. He placed third in the discus with a toss of 40.2 meters and he placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 13.72 meters.




Feb. 24, 2003

Track
Lewie Parish (Fr., Onalaska, Wis.)
had some excellent runs at the Blue Devil Invitational held Friday in Menomonie. He placed fifth in the 200 in 23.86, a season best time. "Lewie also ran and excellent leg in the 4x800 relay and has been a mainstay on the 4x400 relay team," Coach Don Glover said.

Field
Steve Berg (Jr., Racine, Minn. Stewartville HS)
had his best effort of the season in the weight throw at the Blue Devil Invitational held Friday in Menomonie. He finished second overall with a season best throw of 41-5 1/4.








Feb. 17, 2003

Track
Mike Zander (Fr., Fredonia, Wis. Ozaukee HS)
had two fine races for the Falcons in the Falcon Invitational held Saturday at the Knowles Building. He finished second in the 400 in 52.48 and placed sixth in the 200 in 23.9.

Field
Andy Poterucha (So., Rochester, Minn. Lourdes HS)
jumped 6-4 in the high jump and placed second overall in the Falcon Invitational held Saturday at the Knowles Building. It was a season best jump for Poterucha.

 

 

 

 

Feb. 10, 2003

Track
Ben Kirmse (Fr., Wild Rose, Wis.) made a solid improvement in the 1,500 at the Bowlus Invitational held Saturday. He ran a 4:21.58 - an improvement from the 4:40 he ran the week before.

Field
Erik Olson (Fr., Shoreview, Minn. Mounds View HS) had a solid showing in the shot put at the Bowlus Invitational held Saturday. He threw the shot 13.57 meters (44-6 1/4) and placed sixth overall. He improved from his distance of 12.76 the week before.

 

 

Feb. 3, 2003

Track
Weesayma Kennedy (So., St. Paul, Minn. Concordia Academy HS)
set a school record in one event and just missed qualifying for nationals in another on Saturday at the Stout Invitational. Kennedy won the 55 in 6.53. He is just .03 off qualifying for nationals. He also won the 200 in a school record time of 22.77.

Field

Dean Harder (Fr., Frederic, Wis.) had two solid efforts in the high jump and long jump at the Stout Invitational on Saturday. He placed third in the high jump with a leap of 6-0 3/4 and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18-11 3/4.

Weesayma Kennedy (So., St. Paul, Minn. Concordia Academy HS) won the 55-meter dash in 6.62 at the Falcon Open held Saturday at the Knowles Building. "Weesayma is undefeated in the race so far this year and is close to qualifying for nationals," Coach Don Gloveer said.
