Oct. 14, 2002 Singles: No. 1 player Jordan Anderson (Jr., Winona, Minn.) picked up the teams only point in a match against UW-La Crosse on Saturday. She defeated her opponent, 7-5, 6-0.
Oct. 7, 2002 Singles: Amber Weissinger (So., Eau Claire, Wis. North HS), UWRFs
No. 6 player, earned a 6-4, 6-4 win against her Hamline opponent last
week. "Weve been working with her to become more offensive
minded," Coach Lee Lueck said. "And against Hamline, when given
an opportunity to attack net, she did and was more aggressive then in
the past."
Sept. 30, 2002 Singles: No. 4 player Meredith Verberne (Jr., Brookfield, Wis.
Central HS) earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over her Stout opponent. "Meredith
played a very tough match against her Stout opponent," Coach Lee
Lueck said. "Shes done a great job of moving up from No. 6
singles last year to No. 4 this year."
Sept. 23, 2002 Singles: No. 4 player Mary Metzer (Sr., Coleraine, Minn. Greenway-Coleraine
HS) had a solid week for the Falcons and played well in her four matches.
She won three of the four. She beat her Bethel opponent, 8-5, her St.
Marys opponent, 4-6, 6-1 (10-5) and her Stevens Point opponent,
4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Her only loss was against Oshkosh in three sets, 7-6, 3-6,
6-2. "Mary is the team's "blue collar" player. She works
hard and never gives in!" Coach Lee Lueck said.
Sept. 16, 2002 Singles: Amber Weissinger (So., Eau Claire, Wis. North HS) played three strong matches at No. 6 singles last week. She came back to take a 1-6, 6-4, (10-4) win over her St. Scholastica opponent. She also beat her Ripon opponent, 6-2, 6-3. She dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to her Whitewater opponent. "Ambers game has very much improved," Falcon Coach Lee Lueck said. "She is playing an attacking game at the net."
Sept. 9, 2001 Singles: Megan Knobloch (Fr., Marshfield, Wis. Columbus HS) won
all three singles matches she played at No. 5. She beat her St. Norbert
opponent, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, her Lawrence opponent, 6-2, 6-0, and her
Edgewood opponent, 6-0, 6-0. "This was Megans first collegiate
match and she lost her first set. But then she came back to win a close
won (7-6 (7-3) and then won five in a row," Coach Lee Lueck said.
