Gilfillan Named to All-WIAC Team Nov. 9, 2001 Falcon soccer player Amy Gilfillan (Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn. New Life Academy HS) has been named to the 2001 All-WIAC team. Gilfillan led the Falcons in goals (14) and points (30). She had two game-winning goals. The Falcons finished with a 6-10-1 overall record and were 2-6 in the WIAC. Soccer Team Ends Season With 7-0 Loss Oct. 23, 2001 The UW-River Falls Falcon soccer team ended the 2001 campaign, losing in the WIAC Tournament 7-0 to UW-Oshkosh Tuesday afternoon. Melissa Gruber scored the eventual game-winner during the third minute of the contest. Karin Reinke and Sarah Schultz each added two goals apiece for the Titans. The Falcons did not attempt a shot on goal during the entire game. Goalie Apryl Jennrich made six saves in the loss. Soccer Team Drops 2-1 Match to Augsburg Oct. 19, 2001 The Falcon soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Augsburg College Friday afternoon at Ramer Field. UWRF took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute of the game when Amy Gilfillan scored with an assist to Selena Peterson. But with just two minutes to play in the half Augsburg's Jenny Martin tied the game with Kim Glumich getting the assist. Glumich got the game-winner in the 71st minute with Heidi Hilleren assisting. AC had a 23-11 advantage in shots on goal. UWRF goalie Apryl Jennrich made 14 saves and AC goalie Laura Hoffman stopped four shots. Go to the 2001 Falcon Statistics page. The Falcons will next play a WIAC playoff match at UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday. Soccer Loses at Eau Claire, 4-0 Oct. 18, 2001 The Falcon soccer team lost a 4-0 WIAC decision at UW-Eau Claire Thursday

Soccer Falls to UW-La Crosse, 5-1 Oct. 16, 2001 The UW-River Falls Falcon soccer team lost 5-1 to UW-La Crosse Tuesday afternoon at Ramer Field. The Eagles scored three times in the first 11 minutes of the first half. Katie Christianson scored a pair of goals, including the first of the game during the eighth minute. Forty-five seconds later Julie Taylor scored to give La Crosse a 2-0 lead. The Falcons lone goal of the game came in the 22nd minute as Amy Gilfillan scored to cut the lead to 3-1. Goalie Apryl Jennrich made 19 saves for the Falcons while Jessica Gammeg stopped four shots for the Eagles. Go to the 2001 Falcon Statistics page. Game time is set for 4 p.m. Falcon Soccer Team Ties Concordia-St. Paul Oct. 9, 2001 The Falcon soccer team moved to 6-6-1 overall as they tied Concordia-St. Paul, 1-1, Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons took the lead in the first half when Sarah Hoffman scored in the third minute of the game. However, Concordia-St. Paul tied the game late when Lyndsey Gagas scored in the 81st minute. The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute when Molly McClanahan scored an unassisted goal. But Oshkosh's Karin Reinke scored in the 30th minute to tie the game before halftime. In the second half the Titans got the game-winner from Sarah Schultz in the 48th minute. UWRF goalie Apryl Jennrich made 15 saves. The Falcons wree outshot, 39-4. Sunday the Falcons play at Ripon College with action starting at 11 a.m. Falcon Soccer Defeated by Stout Oct. 2, 2001 Amy Gilfillan had the only Falcon goal in the18th minute. Stout scored its first goal :29 seconds into the game. The goal was scored by Nellie Sivertson. The Blue Devils also had goals by Ramona Vann, Kristi Field, and a second by Sivertson. Falcon Soccer Blitzes Yellowjackets Sept. 27, 2001 The Falcon soccer team shutout UW-Superior, 7-0, Thursday afternoon in Superior. Falcon Sarah Hoffman scored the game-winner in the eighth minute of play. She added the teams second goal in the 20th minute. Amy Gilfillan scored a hat trick for the second time in two games, scoring in the 28th, 41st, and 64th minutes. She also assisted on Hoffman's secoond goal. Game time is 4 p.m. Falcons Shutout Viterbo, 4-0 Sept. 25, 2001 The Falcon soccer team shutout Viterbo, 4-0, Tuesday afternoon in La Crosse. With a 1-0 lead heading into the second half, Falcon junior Amy Gilfillan scored three times to put the game away. Gilfillan had goals in the 56th, 70th, and 88th minutes. Sarah Hoffman tallied the game-winning goal in the 17th minute of the

The Falcons next play at Viterbo on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Falcons Beat Platteville, 2-0 Sept. 15, 2001 Gilfillan scored her first goal 38:00 minutes into the first half. Her second goal came in the second half at the 54:00 minute mark. The Falcons played good defense only giving up 20 shots with seven on goal. Falcon goalie Apryl Jennrich made seven saves. Falcons Beat Hamline, 2-1 Sept. 14, 2001 The Falcons scored with just two minutes left to play to get a 2-1 win over Hamline on Friday afternoon at Ramer Field. Hamline took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute of the first half when Amy Fadden scored. The Falcons tied the game in the 59th minute in the second half when Molly McClanahan scored her first collegiate goal. The Falcons got the game winner with just two minutes to play on an own goal. Falcon goalie Apryl Jennrich made 21 saves and the Falcons had eight

Falcons Lose to St. Olaf Sept. 12, 2001 The Falcons were defeated by the St. Olaf Oles this afternoon at Ramer Field. St. Olaf scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the game. Kristi Parks
and Carolyn Detjen got the goals. The Falcons answered back with one goal
at the 24 minute mark of the first half. The goal was scored by Amy Gilfillan.
Stacy Gauger and Emily Klamm of St. Olaf scored two more to finish the
first half with the Falcons trailing, 4-1. In the second half Detjen and
Klamm each scored their second goals of the game. River Falls goalie,
Apryl Jennrich, had 10 saves in the first half and eight in the second
for a game total of 18. St. Olaf goalie Elizabeth Brandell had foursaves.

Falcons Lose WIAC Opener to Whitewater, 3-0 Sept. 8, 2001 The Falcons opened WIAC play with a 3-0 loss to UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon

Falcons Lose to Bethel in OT Sept. 6, 2001 The Falcons lost in overtime, 3-2, to Bethel College Thursday afternoon at Ramer Field. The Falcons scored two early goals to take the lead in the first half.
Amy Gilfillan scored at the six minute mark and 15minutes later Gilfillan
was fouled in the penalty box and Sarah Johnson scored on the penalty
kick. But it was all Bethel in the second half. Lisa Smyth scored in the
58th minute, and then Priscilla Olson scored in the 82nd minute to tie
the game. Olson got the game winner in the 94th minute. The Falcons, now 1-1 overall, open WIAC play on Saturday when they host UW-Whitewater at Ramer Field. The match starts at noon.
Falcons Defeat Knox College Sept. 1, 2001 The Falcons beat the Knox College Prairie Fire, 4-0, in their first game of the 2001 season Saturday afternoon at Ramer Field. The first and game-winning goal came from Sarah Hoffman in the first half. The three other Falcon goals were scored in the second half. Emily Rodgers, Sarah Johnson and Sarah Hoffman all picked up goals in the second half. The Falcons outshot the Prairie Fire, 37-6. UWRF goalie April Jennrich made three saves for her first shutout of the season. The Falcons, now 1-0 overall, host Bethel on Thursday Sept. 6 in a 4 p.m. game at Ramer Field. |
