Meet the Falcons

Jenny Conzemius
F, 5-5, Senior, #10

Jenny Conzemius was the team’s top scorer in 2002 finishing with 16 goals and 10 assists for 26 points. She led the team in goals, power-play goals with five and game-winning goals with four. She also scored one short-handed goal. She was named to the NCHA All-Academic team for the second straight year and was named the UWRF Player of the Week on Nov. 5. She joined the Falcons at the halfway point of the season in 2001 and made an immediate impact. She scored nine goals and had five assists in just nine games. Her 40 career points ties her for second on the UWRF all-time scoring list. She transferred to UWRF after playing at St. Cloud State. She was given honorable mention to the All-State team after her season at Rochester John Marshall High School. Conzemius was three times named to the all-conference team. In 2000 she was named to the WCHA All-Academic team and she was named to the 2001 NCHA All-Academic squad. In the 1998-99 school year she was named JM’s Student-Athlete of the season. She is the daughter of Clarence and Mary Jo and has two sisters. She is majoring in computer science.

Mandy Stokes

Mandy Stokes enters her final year with the Falcons and will be looked upon to give the team leadership this year. In 2002 she had four goals and four assists for eight points and was a team captain. She scored one power-play goal. She was named the team’s Hardest Worker and was named to the NCHA All-Academic team for the second straight year. In 2001 she was named to the All-NCHA first team and was the only Falcon to be named to the first team and to the NCHA All-Academic team. Stokes was fourth in scoring in 2001 with 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points. She finished eighth in scoring in the NCHA and her two short-handed goals placed her third in the league. Stokes was named the NCHA Player of the Week on Feb. 5 after she scored three goals in the team’s sweep of Lake Forest. After the 2001 season she was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and the winner of the Hustle Award. She finished the 2000 season 9-1-10 and tied for the team lead in points. She was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player and was a team captain. She was twice named the team’s Player of the Week. Stokes is tied for second on the UWRF all-time scoring list with 40 points. She is the daughter of Greg and Gloria and has one brother. She is majoring in health and human performance.

Elisha Best

Elisha Best has had two great seasons for the Falcons. In 2002 she finished tied for second on the team in scoring with 10 goals and 18 assists for 18 points. She had one power-play goal, one short-handed goal and two game-winners. She was named to the 2002 All-NCHA academic team. She played a key role for the 2001 team and was named to the first All-NCHA team by the league coaches. She led the team with 18 goals and added 11 assists for 29 points, second on the team. She had one short-handed goal and three game-winners. She finished third in scoring in the NCHA, second in goals scored, sixth in assists and second in game-winning goals. She played at Duluth East High School and helped the Greyhounds to the Minnesota State Tournament in 1998 and 1999. She was her team’s captain and played in the Maroon and Gold series. She also played with a Minnesota Selects team. She scored 25 goals and added 15 assists in her senior season while playing right wing. She is the daughter of Rob and Wendy and has two brothers and one sister. She is majoring in psychology.

Beth Betker

Beth Betker had another outstanding year for the Falcons and returns as one of the team’s top players. She can be a dominating player on the Falcon blue line. In 2002 she scored four goals and 10 assists for 14 points. She was given honorable mention to the All-NCHA team and won the team’s Blue Line award. She was named the NCHA Player of the Week on Feb. 18. She was recognized by league coaches when she was named to the All-NCHA first team in 2001. She scored six goals and had six assists for 12 points. She had two game-winners. She was a top defenseman with the Minnesota Thoroughbreds White team and competed in national tournaments. She is the daughter of Bruce and Judy and has two brothers. She is majoring in chemistry.

Courtney Canniff

Courtney Canniff joins the Falcons for the first time after transferring from Minnesota State-Mankato. She helped lead Park Center High School to the 2000 Minnesota State Championship. She is a talented forward who was named to the All-State team three times and to the all-conference team five times. She was her team’s Most Valuable Player for three seasons. She competed in the Maroon & Gold series and was on four Minnesota Selects teams. Canniff also competed with Team Minnesota. She is the daughter of Jamey and Tina and has one brother. She is majoring in health & human performance.

 

Lindsy Carlson
D, 5-4, Junior, #16

Duluth East High School


Lindsy Carlson returns to the Falcons and will help the team with her play on the blue line. She played for UWRF in the 2000-01 season and played at UW-Superior in the 2001-02 campaign. She has been named to the All-NCHA team the past two years and after her freshman season at UWRF was named the NCHA’s Player of the Year. She led UWRF in scoring that year finishing 13-19-32. Last year at UWS she went 4-15-19 and was named to the JOFA/AHCA 2002 West Region All-American team. She participated with the Minnesota Selects three times. She is the daughter of Lauri and Robbyn and has three brothers. She is majoring in animal science.

Rachel Goodwin

Rachel Goodwin had another strong season for the Falcons in 2002. She had four assists on the year and has one goal and 13 assists for 14 career points. She is a talented defensive player. She scored seven goals and 15 assists as a senior at Duluth East High School and helped the team to two state tournament berths. She also played with the Minnesota Selects team and was an assistant captain. She is the daughter of Chuck and Marion and has two brothers. She is majoring in pre-pharmacy.

Jodi Hensch

Jodi Hensch has been one of the team’s top players the past two years. Last year she finished sixth in scoring for the Falcons with four goals and eight assists for 12 points. She had three power-play goals. She was named to the first All-NCHA team. She had a great rookie season finishing third in scoring with nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points. She had two power-play goals and a game-winner. Hensch finished sixth in assists in the NCHA. She has the talents and skills to play both forward and defense. At Fergus Falls High School she finished her final season with 23 goals and 10 assists for 33 points. She was named her team’s Most Valuable Player and was a team captain for two seasons. Hensch also played with the Minnesota Selects. She is the daughter of Jerry and Becky and has one brother and one sister. She is majoring in business.

Laura Berg

Laura Berg played in every game for the Falcons last year and was a solid player on the blue line. She scored one goal. Her talents and skills as a defenseman were an important part of the team last year. She was the St. Cloud Icebreakers captain in her senior season and was named to the all-conference team for three straight seasons. She was named her team’s Hardest Worker, won the Coaches Award and was the Defensive Player of the Year. Berg was named to the St. Cloud Times All-Area team. She is the daughter of George and Susan and has one brother. Berg is majoring in communicative disorders.

Heather Egeness

Heather Egeness had a solid rookie campaign with the Falcons and played in all 27 games. She was third on the team in goals with eight. She added four assists for 12 points – tying for sixth on the team in scoring. She scored two power-play goals and a game-winner. At Fairmont High School she was named her team’s Most Valuable Player and was named to the all-conference team. She led her team in scoring and won an Academic Excellence award. Egeness is the daughter of Mike and Linda and she has one brother. She is majoring in accounting.

Katie Hiscock

Katie Hiscock started her collegiate career in fine fashion playing in all 27 Falcon games. She finished with one goal and two assists for three points. Her defensive play paved the way to her being givben honorable mention to the 2002 All-NCHA team. The defenseman was the captain of her Bemidji High School team. She played with the Minnesota Selects and in the Maroon & Gold series. In her final season she was named to the Academic All-State team. Hiscock is the daughter of Dave and Heidi and she has one brother and one sister. She is majoring in pre-pharmacy.

Lisa McGuire

Lisa McGuire put together a great first year for the Falcons in 2002. She played in every game and scored five goals and nine assists for 14 points. She had one power-play goal, two game-winners and one short-handed goal. She finished second in scoring among first-year players. She played with the St. Cloud Icebreakers. She was named her team’s Hardest Worker award winner and won an Academic Excellence award. She was given honorable mention to the all-conference team. She is the daughter of Mike and has two brothers. She is undecided on a major field of study.

Meghan Wahlstron-Ramler

Meghan Wahlstrom-Ramler stepped into the Falcon lineup in 2002 and had an outstanding season. She played in every game and finished with six goals and 12 assists for 18 points. She tied for second on the team in scoring and led all first-year players in scoring. She had one power-play goal and one game-winner. She was honored by the NCHA coaches by being named to the first All-NCHA team. She won the team’s +/- award and was named NCHA Player of the Week on Dec. 3. She was named Champlin Park High School’s Most Valuable Player for three straight seasons. She was named to the all-conference team in four seasons and was an assistant captain in 2000 and 2001. She played with the Minnesota Selects. She is the daughter of William and Sharon and has one brother. She is majoring in environmental engineering.

Annie Shanahan

Annie Shanahan played in 25 games for the Falcons in 2002 and finished with six goals and two assists for eight points. She had one game-winning goal. She showed great skills with and without the puck. At Bemidji High School she was her team’s captain. She played with both the Minnesota Selects and Minnesota Elite teams. Shanahan is the daughter of Dennis and Nora and has one brother and one sister. She is majoring in social work.

Marlene Yaeger

Marlene Yaeger took over the important goaltending duties for the Falcons and was named to the first All-NCHA team in 2002. She played in 25 games, including the last 23 straight. She finished with a 1.83 goals against average and a .929 saves percentage. She recorded three shutouts, a Falcon record for shutouts in a season. She was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. In NCHA play she finished second in goals against average and shutouts and third in saves. She holds UWRF records for most games in a season, most minutes played in a season, most wins in a season, best season save percentage and best season goals against average. She played with the Minnesota Thoroughbreds and helped the team to a second place finish in the US Midget Girl’s National Tournament. She is also a member of the UWRF cross country team. She is the daughter of Larry and Lorraine and has one brother. She is majoring in computer science.

Leah Baron

Leah Baron is in her first year with the Falcons and played last year at Proctor-Hermantown High School. The winger finished with 44 points and was named to the second All-Area team. She was named a Prep Newsmaker in the Duluth News-Tribune. She set a school record for assists and also played with the Minnesota Selects in 2001. She is the daughter of Mark and Laura and has one brother and three sisters. She is majoring in health & human performance.

 

 

Jenny Jannett

Jenny Janett is a first year player with the Falcons who will help the team with her play in goal. She helped Apple Valley High School to the 1998 Minnesota State Championship when she finished with a 15-5-1 record with a 1.62 goals against average. She was named to the All-State, All-Metro and all-conference teams. She was captain of the team, the Gunderson Award winner and the Most Valuable Player. She is the daughter of Jack and Lucy and has two brothers. She is majoring in English.

 

Lindsay O'Keefe
F, 5-7, Freshman, #20
Roseville, Minn.
Roseville High School


Lindsay O’Keefe will help the Falcons as a forward in her first year with the team. She scored 16 goals and 17 assists last year and was captain at Roseville High School. She helped the 1999 team to the Minnesota State Championship scoring a goal in the title game. O’Keefe played in the Maroon & Gold series and with the Minnesota Selects. She was named to the all-conference team and won the Sportsmanship Award. She is the daughter of Tim and Linda and has one brother. She is majoring in social studies.

 

Natalie Olson
G, 5-10, Freshman, #35
Red Wing, Minn.
Red Wing High School


Natalie Olson is in her first year with the Falcons as a goalie. At Red Wing High School she had a 91 per cent saves percentage in 2002. She was named to the all-conference team and was voted her team’s Most Valuable Player. She is the daughter of Fred and Drois and has three brothers and two sisters. She is majoring in sociology.


 

Lou Paulson

Proctor-Hermantown High School


Lou Paulson will help the 2002-03 Falcons with her play as a forward. She is in her first year with the team after playing last year at Proctor-Hermantown High School. She finished with 24 goals and 46 points in 2002. She also competed with the Minnesota Selects. She was named to the second All-Area team and holds school records for season and career points. She is the daughter of Bob and Laurie and has one brother and one sister. She is majoring in health & human performance.

 

Ali Slinden
F, 5-6, Freshman, #19
Dassel, Minn.
Litchfield-Dassel-Cokato High School


Ali Slinden is a talented forward who joins the Falcons for her first season. At Litchfield-Dassel-Cokato High School she scored 50 goals and 58 points in 2002. She also played with the Minnesota Thoroughbreds at the national tournament. Sliden played in the Maroon & Gold series and in the Chicago Showcase tourney. She is the daughter of Richard and Deb and has one brother and one sister. She is majoring in health & human performance.



 

Tiff Stencil

Wisconsin Challengers


Tiff Stencil is in her first year with the Falcons and will help the team with her play at forward. She competed with the Wisconsin Challengers program where she had 13 goals and 31 points in 2002. She also played with the Altoona High School boy’s team. In 2000 she played with the Aspen, Col., club team. She is the daughter of Tom and has two sisters. She is majoring in health & human performance.
