Five Falcon women's hockey players have been named to the 2003 All-NCHA team. Coach Joe Cranston was named the NCHA Coach of the Year. Goalie Marlene Yaeger (So., Medina, Minn.), defensemen Lindsy Carlson (Jr., Two Harbors, Minn.) and Jodi Hensch (Jr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) and forward Ali Slinden (Fr., Dassel, Minn.) were all named to the first team. Forward Megan Wahlstrom-Ramler (So., Champlin, Minn.) was given honorable mention. Yaeger has been named to the first team for the second straight season. She played in 25 games and had a 1.51 goals against average and a .942 saves percentage. She recorded a school record five shutouts. Carlson has been named to the first team for the third straight season. She finished sixth on the team in scoring with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. She scored five power-play goals. Hensch had been named to the first team for the second straight year. She finished tied for fourth in scoring with six goals and 11 assists for 17 points. She scored two power-play goals and two game-winners. Slinden, one of two freshmen on the first team, led the Falcons in scoring. She has 18 goals and nine assists for 27 points. She scored two power-play goals and three game-winners. Wahlstrom-Ramler, who was named to the first All-NCHA in 2002, tied for fourth in scoring for the Falcons with five goals and 12 assists for 17 points. She had two power-play goals and two game-winners. Cranston led the Falcons to the 2003 NCHA regular season and playoff championships. He has a 54-37-8 career record in four years with the Falcons. The Falcons have a 19-4-4 overall record in 2003. Seven Falcons were named to the NCHA All-Academic team. Laura Berg (So.,
St. Cloud, Minn.), Lindsy Carlson, Jenny Conzemius (Sr., Rochester, Minn.),
Rachel Goodwin (Jr., Houston, Texas), Katie Hiscock (So., Bemidji, Minn.),
Lisa McGuire (So., St. Cloud, Minn.) and Mandy Stokes (Sr., Amery, Wis.)
were all named to the team. Conzemius and Stokes were both named for the
third straight year and Goodwin was named for the second year. To be named
to the team a player must have a cummulative 3.00 grade point average,
have earned at least 50 semester or 75 quarter hours, and be recommended
by her head coach. |
