Yaeger, Carlson, Slinden Named
Three Falcons Named to JOFA All-American West Team

Three members of the 2003 Falcon women's hockey team have been named to the JOFA All-American West first team.

Goalie Marlene Yaeger (So., Medina, Minn.), defenseman Lindsy Carlson (Jr., Two Harbors, Minn.) and forward Ali Slinden (Fr., Dassel, Minn.) were all named to the team. The team is voted on by coaches in the West Region.

Yaeger, who earlier this\ year was named to the first All-NCHA team and was also named the NCHA's Co-Most Valuable Player, has played 26 games and 1,567 minutes. She has a 1.49 goals against average and a .942 saves percentage. She was ranked in the top five nationally in both goals against average and saves percentage throughout the season. She recored a school record five shutouts this year.

Carlson has been named for the second straight year. Last year she was named after playing at UW-Superior. This year for the Falcons she has played 27 games and has scored eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points. She leads the team with six power-play goals. Carlson has been named to the first All-NCHA team in each year of her three year career. As a freshman at UWRF in 2001, she was named the NCHA Player of the Year.

Slinden, who was named to the 2003 All-NCHA first team, leads the Falcons in scoring. She has a team high 19 goals and nine assists for 28 points. She has scored three power-play goals and has two game-winners.

Falcon Coach Joe Cranston was one of six named as finalist for the Div. III Coach of the Year award.

The Falcons are competing in the NCAA Div. III women's Froze Four this weekend in Elmira, N.Y. The Falcons play at 7:30 p.m. (EST) against the host school, Elmira College. The championship game will be at 7:30 p.m. (EST) on Saturday. A third place game will be at 4 p.m. (EST) on Saturday.
