Meet the Falcons

Laura Berg
D, 5-3, Freshman, #3

St. Cloud Icebreakers


Laura Berg joins the Falcons and will help the team with her play on the blue line. She was the St. Cloud Icebreakers captain in her senior season and was named to the all-conference team for three straight seasons. She was named her team’s Hardest Worker, won the Coaches Award and was the Defensive Player of the Year. Berg was named to the St. Cloud Times All-Area team. She is the daughter of George and Susan and has one brother. Berg is undecided on a major field of study.

 

Elisha Best

Duluth East High School


Elisha Best played a key role for last year’s team and was named to the first All-NCHA team by the league coaches. She led the team with 18 goals and added 11 assists for 29 points, second on the team. She had one short-handed goal and three game-winners. She finished third in scoring in the NCHA, second in goals scored, sixth in assists and second in game-winning goals. Best is one of the team captains this year. She played at Duluth East High School and helped the Greyhounds to the Minnesota State Tournament in 1998 and 1999. She was her team’s captain and played in the Maroon and Gold series. She also played with a Minnesota Selects team. She scored 25 goals and added 15 assists in her senior season while playing right wing. She is the daughter of Rob and Wendy and has two brothers and one sister. She is majoring in pre-medicine.

Beth Betker

Beth Betker can be a dominating player on the Falcon blue line. She was recognized by league coaches when she was named to the All-NCHA first team in 2001. She scored six goals and had six assists for 12 points. She had two game-winners. Her play was part of the reason why the Falcons showed such a dramatic defensive improvement in 2001. She was a top defenseman with the Minnesota Thoroughbreds White team and competed in national tournaments. She is the daughter of Bruce and Judy and has two brothers. She is majoring in chemistry.

Ashley Burrows

Ashley Burrows joins the Falcons and will help the team with her play as a forward. At St. Louis Park High School she was the team’s captain in her junior and senior seasons. She was named the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player as a senior. Burrows was given honorable mention to the all-conference team after her sophomore and senior seasons. She is the daughter of Ben and Kelli and has one brother and one sister. Burrows is majoring in psychology.

 

Jenny Conzemius

Jenny Conzemius joined the Falcons at the halfway point of the season in 2001 and made an immediate impact. She scored nine goals and had five assists in just nine games. She transferred to UWRF after playing at St. Cloud State. She was given honorable mention to the All-State team after her season at Rochester John Marshall High School. Conzemius was three times named to the all-conference team. In 2000 she was named to the WCHA All-Academic team and she was named to the 2001 NCHA All-Academic squad. In the 1998-99 school year she was named JM’s Student-Athlete of the season. She is the daughter of Clarence and Mary Jo and has two sisters. She is majoring in computer science.

Keri Deschene

Keri Deschene is a talented forward who finished fifth in scoring last year with the Falcons (9-10-19). She caught the attention of NCHA coaches and received honorable mention to the All-NCHA team last year. She finished third in power-play goals in the NCHA. She is the daughter of John and Doreen and has two brothers and three sisters. She is majoring in business administration.

Heather Egeness

Heather Egeness joins the Falcons as a forward who will help the Falcons in the offensive zone. At Fairmont High School she was named her team’s Most Valuable Player and was named to the all-conference team. She led her team in scoring and won an Academic Excellence award. Egeness is the daughter of Mike and Linda and she has one brother. She is undecided on a major field of study.

 

Rachel Goodwin
D, 5-2, Sophomore, #21

Rachel Goodwin had a solid season in 2000-2001 as a Falcon defenseman. She scored one goal and had nine assists. She scored seven goals and 15 assists as a senior at Duluth East High School and helped the team to two state tournament berths. She also played with a Minnesota Selects team and was an assistant captain. She is the daughter of Chuck and Marion and has two brothers. She is majoring in pre-pharmacy.

Jodi Hensch

Jodi Hensch had a great rookie season last year finishing third in scoring with nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points. She had two power-play goals and a game-winner. Hensch finished sixth in assists in the NCHA. She has the talents and skills to play both forward and defense. At Fergus Falls High School she finished her final season with 23 goals and 10 assists for 33 points. She was named her team’s Most Valuable Player and was a team captain for two seasons. Hensch also played with the Minnesota Selects. She is the daughter of Jerry and Becky and has one brother and one sister. She is undecided on a major field of study.

Katie Hiscock

Katie Hiscock brings to the Falcons some good skills in all phases of the game. The defenseman was the captain of her Bemidji High School team. She played with the Minnesota Selects and in the Maroon & Gold series. In her final season she was named to the Academic All-State team. Hiscock is the daughter of Dave and Heidi and she has one brother and one sister. She is majoring in pre-pharmacy.

 

Karyl Hylle

Wayzata High School


Karyl Hylle played in every game for the Falcons as a freshman last year and finished with seven goals and three assists. She had one power-play goal and two game-winners. She is a skilled forward who has the ability to put the puck in the net. She helped Wayzata High School win the Classic Lake Conference championship. She was given All-Conference honorable mention, was a team captain and won the team’s Unsung Hero Award. She is the daughter of Paul and Brenda and has one brother and two sisters. She is majoring in psychology and animal science.

Lisa McGuire

Lisa McGuire joins the Falcons as a forward after playing with the St. Cloud Icebreakers. She was named her team’s Hardest Worker award winner and won an Academic Excellence award. She was given honorable mention to the all-conference team. She is the daughter of Mike and Denise and has two brothers. She is undecided on a major field of study.

 

Megan Schulzetenberg

Megan Schulzetenberg returns to the Falcons as a defenseman who gave the Falcons several good minutes of play last year. She won the team’s Unsung Hero award in 2001. She is a talented defenseman who finished with seven assists in 2001. She scored two goals and 10 assists for 12 points for the St. Cloud Icebreakers. She was given honorable mention to the All-Conference team and was named to the All-Area team. She was also named her team’s Hardest Worker. Schulzetenberg also played for the Minnesota Selects. She is the daughter of Bob and Sandi and has three brothers. She is undecided on a major field of study.

Stephanie Seiler

Stephanie Seiler had a second solid season in goal for the Falcons. She played in 10 games and finished with a 1.92 goals against average and a .909 saves percentage. She had a 5-4 record and posted two shutouts. She finished third in the NCHA in goals against and was second in shutouts. In 2000 Seiler saw plenty of action and helped keep the Falcons in several games with some outstanding saves throughout the season. She finished with a 4.06 goals against average and an .887 saves percentage. At Henry Sibley High School she was her team’s Most Valuable Player twice and was a team co-captain. She was named to the All-Conference team in 1998 and received honorable mention to the team in 1999. She is the daughter of Stephen and Cheryl and has one brother.

Annie Shanahan

Annie Shanahan will help the Falcons as a forward. She has great skills with and without the puck and will help the Falcons with her play this season. At Bemidji High School she was her team’s captain. She played with both the Minnesota Selects and Minnesota Elite teams. Shanahan is the daughter of Dennis and Nora and has one brother and one sister. She is majoring in elementary education.

 

Mandy Stokes
F, 5-5, Junior, #11

Amery High School


Mandy Stokes was one of several Falcons who were named to the All-NCHA first team in 2001. She is the only Falcon to be named to the first team and to the NCHA All-Academic team. Stokes was fourth in scoring in 2001 with 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points. She finished eighth in scoring in the NCHA and her two short-handed goals placed her third in the league. Stokes was named the NCHA Player of the Week on Feb. 5 after she scored three goals in the team’s sweep of Lake Forest. After the 2001 season she was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and the winner of the Hustle Award. She finished the 2000 season 9-1-10 and tied for the team lead in points. She was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player and was a team captain. She was twice named the team’s Player of the Week. Stokes is the daughter of Greg and Gloria and has one brother. She is majoring in health and human performance.

Meghan Wahlstrom-Ramler

Meghan Wahlstrom-Ramler has good skills and will help the Falcons with her play as a forward. She was named Champlin Park High School’s Most Valuable Player for three straight seasons. She was named to the all-conference team in four seasons and was an assistant captain in 2000 and 2001. She played with the Minnesota Selects. She is the daughter of William and Sharon and has one brother. Wahlstrom-Ramler is majoring in environmental engineering.

 

Marlene Yaeger

Marlene Yaeger brings outstanding goaltending skills to the 2002 Falcons. She played with the Minnesota Thoroughbreds and helped the team to a second place finish in the US Midget Girl’s National Tournament. She is also a member of the UWRF cross country team. She is the daughter of Larry and Lorraine and has one brother. She is majoring in computer science.
