Seven UW-River Falls men's hockey players have been named to the 2002 All-NCHA teams. Defenseman Adam Kragthorpe (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) was named to the first team. Goalie Jacque Vezina (Jr., Hudson, Wis.), defenseman John Conboy (So., Silver Bay, Minn.) and forwards Rob Novak (Jr., Hayward, Wis.), Jamie Steinert (So., Maple Grove, Minn.), Josh Schlipp (Fr., Chisago Lakes, Minn.) and Jess Johnson (So., Bloomington, Minn.) were all given honorable mention. Kragthorpe was named to the first team for the third straight year. He finished the season with three goals and 10 assists for 13 points. He had two power-play goals. He is an oustanding defenseman who can also help the team in the offensive zone. Vezina played in 27 of the team's 29 games and finished with a 2.06 goals against average and a .918 saves percentage. He had a 16-9-2 season record. His five shutouts set a single-season school record. Conboy led all Falcon defensemen in scoring finishing with two goals and 14 assists for 16 points. Rob Novak was sixth on the team in scoring with 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points. He had one power-play goal. Jamie Steinert was fifth in scoring for the Falcons with 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points. He had two game-winning goals. Schlipp led the Falcons in scoring with 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points. He had three power-play goals and one game-winner. His 17 goals led the team. Johnson finished fourth in scoring. He had 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points. He had three power-play goals and led the team with four game-winners. The Falcons finished 18-9-2 overall and 7-5-2 and in fourth place in
the final NCHA standings. |
