Falcon defensemen Eliot Komar (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) and Adam Kragthorpe (So., Plymouth, Minn.) have both been named to the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) first West All-American team. Forward Jeff Bernard (Sr., Enfield, Conn.) was named to the second team. Komar, who has three times been named to the All-NCHA first team and was given honorable mention once, finished the year with one goal and 10 assists for 11 points. He is an outstanding defensive defenseman who helped the Falcons average just 2.47 goals allowed per game this year. In his career he played in 121 games, scored 15 goals and had 37 assists for 52 points. Kragthorpe, who has twice been named to the first All-NCHA team, finished tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points. He had three power-play goals and one game-winning goal. In two years Kragthorpe has played in 64 games, has 13 goals and 25 assists for 38 points. He has four power-play goals and two game-winning goals. Bernard, who was named to the first All-NCHA team in 2001 and received honorable mention last year, led the Falcons in scoring with 23 goals and 25 assists for 48 points. He led the team in goals and tied for the lead in assists. He led the team with nine power-play goals and tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals. In his career he has played in 119 games and scored 58 goals and 75 assists for 133 total points. He has scored 18 power-play goals, eight game-winning goals and two hat tricks. His 133 points puts him 10th on the Falcon all-time scoring list. Others named to the first West team were goalie Brian Howard of Concordia-Moorhead, Minn., and forwards Jeff Glowa and Ivan Prokic of UW-Superior and Adam Sedgwick of St. Norbert. Also named to the second West team were goalie Nathan Ziemski of UW-Superior, defensemen Mike McMahon of St. Thomas and Milan Tomaska of UW-Superior and forwards Jared Gustafson of Bethel and Tony Lawrence of St. Thomas. |
