Offense
Halfback John Peterlik (So., Cadott, Wis.) had a career best day
for the Falcons in the team's 34-29 win at UW-Platteville. He carried
the ball 31 times and netted 232 rushing yards. He scored three touchdowns
on runs of 19, 15 and 23 yards. He also had a 70-yard touchdown run called
back. "John's performance was one of the best ever in our history,"
Coach John O'Grady said.
Defense
Linebacker Kyle Hoegh (So., Byron, Minn.) had another strong game
in the team's win at Platteville on Saturday. For the second week in a
row, he returned an interception for a touchdown. He picked off a pass
and raced 38 yards for a touchdown late in the first half to give the
Falcons a 20-13 lead at the time. He had one solo and one assisted tackle.
Special Teams
Matt Farmer (So., Tomahawk, Wis.) played well for the Falcons in
covering punts and kickoffs in the team's win at UW-Platteville. He finished
with two solo and one assisted tackle in the game.
Nov. 11, 2002
Offense
Halfback John Peterlik (So., Cadott, Wis.) had another solid
game for the Falcons in the team's 13-12 win over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday.
He was the game's leading rusher finishing with 11 carries for 113 yards,
a 10.3 per carry average, and one touchdown. With UWRF trailing, 12-0,
Peterlik took a pitch and raced 42 yards for a touchdown to get the Falcons
on the board with just 6:53 to play in the game.
Defense
Linebacker Kyle Hoegh (So., Byron, Minn.) made the biggest play
of the game in the Falcons 13-12 win over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday. With
Oshkosh leading, 12-7, and with the ball at their 12 yard line, Hoegh
picked off a Titan pass at the UWO 19 and returned it for a touchdown
to give the Falcons the winning points with 3:25 to go in the game. He
was second on the team in tackles with six solo and 10 total stops. He
also broke up another pass.
Special Teams
Snapper Aaron Retzlaff (Fr., Shawano, Wis.) filled in again at
the important snapper's spot and performed very well on all of the Falcon
extra point and punt attempts against Oshkosh on Saturday at Ramer Field.
Nov. 4, 2002
Offense:
Tackle Brad Roy (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) had another outstanding
game in blocking for the Falcons in the wishbone offense. The Falcons
rushed for 269 yards and had 282 yards in total offense under Roy's leadership
at La Crosse.
Defense:
Corner back Lewis Parish (Fr., Onalaska, Wis.) was one of the best
players on the field at La Crosse on Saturday. He got the Falcons on the
scoreboard when he returned a fumble 71-yards for a touchdown early in
the second quarter that tied the game at the time, 7-7. In the third quarter
he intercepted a La Crosse pass that gave UWRF the ball at the UWL 41.
He finished the game with six solo tackles and a pass defended.
Special Teams:
Kicker Adam Bergdahl (So., North Branch, Minn.) had a good day
kicking the ball for the Falcons at La Crosse. He punted eight times and
averaged 35.1 yards a kick. Two were downed inside the UWL 20 and he had
a long of 43. He booted a 27-yard field goal last in the first half to
draw the Falcons to within 14-10 at the half. He was also successful on
the one extra point kick attempt. He also handled the Falcon kick off
duties.
Oct. 28, 2002
Offense: Tackle Brad Roy (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) had another
strong game for the Falcons in the offensive line. "Brad played a
very physical game against Stout," Coach John OGrady said.
Defense: Tackle Josh Meyer (So., Darien, Wis. Delavan-Darien
HS) played a solid game for the Falcons against Stout. He had one
solo and five assisted tackles in the game.
Special Teams: Snapper Aaron Retzlaff (Fr., Shawano, Wis.) stepped
into the Falcon lineup for an injured Brad Malpert and handled the duties
without a mistake in the game against Stout.
Oct. 21, 2002
Offense: Quarterback Dustin Vogelgesang (Jr., Hastings, Minn.)
returned to the Falcons as a starter, and played for the first time since
Sept. 14, against Stevens Point. "Dustin played very well in running
the offense and throwing the ball," Coach John OGrady said.
Vogelgesang completed 5-13 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns covering
68 and 28 yards.
Defense: End Nate Hendrickson (Jr., Prescott, Wis.) played
another good game for the Falcons against Stevens Point on Saturday. He
finished with four solo and five assisted tackles. He forced one fumble
and had two tackles for a loss of five yards. One tackle was a sack and
a loss of four yards.
Special Teams: Snapper Brad Malpert (So., Ringle, Wis. D.C. Everest
HS), "did a good job of snapping the ball against Stevens Point,"
Coach John OGrady said. Malpert snaps for all Falcon punts, field
goals and extra points.
Oct. 14, 2002
Defense: End Jeff Horton (Jr., Oakdale, Minn. Tartan HS)
played a solid game for the Falcons at Eau Claire on Saturday. He finished
with two solo tackles and one assist. He had two sacks for a loss of 12
yards. He also was credited with a pass defended.
Special Teams: Matt Farmer (So., Tomahawk, Wis.) helped the Falcons
get points on the scoreboard on Saturday at Eau Claire. He blocked an
Eau Claire punt and recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown in the
third quarter.
Oct. 7, 2002
Offense: Halfback Bryon Grossenbacher (Jr., Clayton, Wis.)
had a good day for the Falcons in the backfield. He carried the ball five
times for 34 yards. He also had a long run of 13 yards. "He averaged
6.8 yards per carry and blocked well," said Coach OGrady.
Defense: Tackle Nic Rue (Jr., Portage, Wis.) played a solid
game on the defensive for the Falcons. He made 1 solo tackle and assisted
in 2 others, also having 2 tackles for a loss of 4 yards. He also had
1 sack for 3 yards. "Great leadership," commented Coach OGrady.
Special Teams: Lewis Parish (Fr., Onalaska, Wis.) blocked a punt in
the Falcon game against Whitewater. The Falcons later scored their second
touchdown of the game. "He blocked a punt," stated Coach OGrady.
Sept. 30, 2002
Offense: Quarterback Tom Pulford (Jr., Perham, Minn.) stepped
into a starting spot and performed very well in the teams 23-14
win at St. Ambrose on Saturday. Pulford carried the ball 12 times and
gained 34 yards. He completed 1-5 passes for 14 yards. "Tom had an
outstanding game both mentally and physically. He played like an experienced
veteran," Coach John OGrady said.
Defense: Linebacker Kyle Hoegh (So., Byron, Minn.) played
a strong game for the Falcons defense in the teams 23-14 win at
St. Ambrose on Saturday. He finished with two solo and two assisted tackles.
He also broke up one pass.
Special Teams: Punter Adam Bergdahl (So., North Branch, Minn.)
punted seven times and averaged 38.1 yards a kick against St. Ambrose.
He had a long of 51 yards. He also kicked a 24-yard field goal. "Adam
handled two bad snaps with poise and got off good punts," Coach John
OGrady said.
Sept. 16, 2002
Offense: Fullback DJ Beyer (Fr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) had
his best game in a Falcon uniform at Concordia on Saturday. He carried
the ball 12 times and gained 71 yards. His long run covered 33 yards.
He averaged 5.9 yards a carry.
Defense: Tackle Nic Rue (Jr., Portage, Wis.) put constant
pressure on Concordia ball carriers on Saturday. He finished with four
solo and two assisted tackles. He had 2.5 tackles for loss covering seven
yards. He had one sack assists for four years.
Special Teams: Roman Johnson (So., Clearwater, Fla.) played important
roles on the punt return, punt coverage and kick off return teams for
the Falcons. He had two tackles on punt coverage and also returned four
punts for 21 yards. He had a long of 23 yards. He returned a kick off
35 yards.
Sept. 9, 2002
Offense: Halfback John Peterlik (So., Cadott, Wis.) led
the Falcon rushing attack with 135 rushing yards on 19 carries. He averaged
7.1 per carry and had a long run of 60 yards. "John had a great game
running the ball," Coach John OGrady said.
Defense: Defensive back Luke Miska (Sr., Silver Lake, Minn.
Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) had four tackles and an interception at Chadron
State. He returned the interception 20 yards. He also broke up two other
passes.
Special Teams: Punter/place kicker Adam Bergdahl (So., North
Branch, Minn.) had a fine game in both punting and place kicking for
the Falcons at Chadron State. He punted three times and averaged 43.7
per kick. His long was 53. He was 1-1 in extra point kicks. "Adam
had a great day punting the ball," Coach John OGrady said.
