Six Named to All-WIAC Team Football Teams

Six Falcon football players have been named to 2002 All-WIAC teams voted on by the league coaches.

Guard Shaun Izdepski (Sr., Conrath, Wis. Flambeau HS) and halfback John Peterlik (So., Cadott, Wis.) were both named to the first offensive team. End Jeff Horton (Jr., Oakdale, Minn. Tartan HS) was named to the second defensive unit. Safety Luke Miska (Sr., Silver Lake, Minn. Glencoe-Silver Lake) was given honorable mention to the defensive team. Tackle Brad Roy (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) was given honorable mention to the offensive team and Roman Johnson (So., Clearwater, Fla.) was given honorable mention to the offensive unit as an all-purpose back.

Izdepski was a leader in the Falcon offensive line and started every game for the Falcons in 2002. With his blocking talents the Falcons led the WIAC in rushing for the 30th straight season. Peterlik led the WIAC in rushing this year finishing with 1,114 yards and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 5.9 yards per carry and his 11 rushing touchdowns also led the WIAC.

Horton led the WIAC in sacks with 11 after starting all 10 Falcon games. He finished with 21 solo and 34 total tackles. He led the Falcons in tackles for loss with 17. He forced a fumble and broke up three passes.

Miska was the leader of the Falcon defense from his free safety position. He started all 10 games and led the Falcons in tackles with 81. He had 48 solo and 33 assists. He was seventh in the WIAC in tackles. He had two tackles for loss, intercepted two passes, broke up three others, recovered three fumbles and forced one fumble. Roy started all 10 games in the offensive line and was another stalwart for the Falcons. Johnson returned kicks and punts for the Falcons. He led the Falcons with 21 punt returns and averaged seven yards per return. He also led the team in kickoff returns with 24 and averaged 17.6 yards a return.

UWRF finished the 2002 season with a 3-7 overall record and were 2-5 in the WIAC.
