Garin and Turbak were named to the first team and Becker and Brooke received honorable mention. Turbak, who played second base, led the team in hitting with a .386 average. She started every game and was 39-101 at the plate. She led the Falcons in runs (19), doubles (6), triples (2) and was second in RBIs (14). She led the team in slugging percentage (.485) and on-base percentage (.426). She stole six bases in seven attempts. In the field she had 83 put outs and 58 assists and finished with a .928 fielding percentage. "As a sophomore, Melissa made huge improvements," Falcon Coach Faye Perkins said. "As a freshman, she hit .261. This year, her team leading .386 batting average was the 11th highest in the WIAC. She was a solid No. 3 batter in the line-up. As a freshman, her fielding percentage was .896 and this year it improved to .928. As Mel continues to get more experience and becomes more confident, she will be one of the top WIAC players. Garin, who played center field, played in 28 games and started 25. She finished with a .316 batting average. She was 25-79 at the plate with five doubles, a triple and a team-high two home runs. She had 12 RBIs and scored 15 runs. She had a .481 slugging percentage and a .349 on-base percentage. She stole eight bases in 13 attempts. In the field, she had 28 put outs and two assists and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. She was given honorable mention to the All-WIAC team last year. "Angie had a great final season with the Falcons--both offensively and defensively," said Perkins. "Defensively, in centerfield, Angie was perfect--not one error in 30 chances. Offensivley, Angie adjusted well to wherever we put her in the batting order--ultimately ending up as the leadoff batter. At this position, she provided consistency and speed. We are definitely going to miss Angie next year." Becker, the team's catcher, started and played in 32 games. She finished with a .231 batting average. She was 18-78 at the plate with 10 run scored. She had one double and two RBIs. She had a .341 on-base percentage and a .244 slugging percentage. She led the team in walks (12) and stole two bases. "Lindsey "The Wall" Becker was a definite leader on the team. As our catcher, she called a great game, worked extremely well with all the pitchers, and protected the plate like no other catcher in the conference. Lindsey only allowed 15 stolen bases for the entire season - compared to the 55 stolen bases that we had as a team! We will miss Lindsey's leadership and heart," said Perkins. Brooke, who was one of the team's three pitchers, and also hit, led the team with 94 innings pitched. She had a 6-7 record and recorded four shutouts. She finished with a 2.09 ERA in 18 appearances. She led the Falcons with 70 strike outs and allowed just 24 walks. At the plate, she hit .317 going 13-41. She scored one run and had two doubles. She had six RBIs. Brooke had seven put outs and 28 assists and a .946 fielding percentage. She was named to the first All-WIAC team in 2000 and 2001. "Once again, Amy proved that she is one of the top pitchers in the WIAC. Her ERA was the seventh lowest in the WIAC--and that's against some very tough competition. This season, Amy really added to the offense of the team with a .317 batting average," said Perkins.
