Falcon Softball Player of the Week

May 7, 2001

Catcher Lindsey Becker (Jr., Appleton, Wis.) had two solid games for the Falcons at last weekend's WIAC Tournament played in Duluth, Minn. She was 3-6 at the plate. She threw two would-be base stealers out at second and had five put outs and three assists in the field.

 

 

 

April 30, 2001

Pitcher Devanie Bigalk (Fr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) pitched in four games last week and finished with a 2-1 record. She beat UW-Stout in a WIAC game, 5-0 and Mt. Senario in a non-conference game, 5-1. She was not involved in the decision in a game against Stout and lost 1-0 to Eau Claire. In the four games she pitched 27 innings and allowed 26 hits. She allowed foru runs, but only two were earned and had a .51 ERA for the week. She walked just three and struck out 18.

 

 

 

April 23, 2001

Pitcher Amy Brooke (So., Spring Valley, Wis.) had a busy and productive week for the Falcons. The highlight of the week came when Brooke threw a no-hitter in a 4-0 win over Superior. She struck out five and walked two in the game. For the entire week, Brooke pitched in seven of the team's eight games and finished 1-3 with a save. She worked 34.2 innings, allowed 24 hits, 14 runs and nine were earned. She walked just six and struck out 22. She worked one inning in relief in the team's 8-5 win over Illinois Wesleyan, a team that was ranked 15th in the NFCA Div. III poll. She allowed one hit, walked one and struck out one in that game.

 

April 16, 2001

Second baseman Cindy Ostertag (Sr., South St. Paul, Minn.) helped the Falcons to two wins over St. Olaf College last week. In the two games she was 4-7 at the plate with two runs scored and three RBIs. She hit a double and stole a base. In the field she had five putouts and one assist with no errors.

 

 

 

 

April 9, 2001

Right fielder Anna Poulter (Fr. Colfax, Iowa Colfax-Mingo HS) helped the Falcons to four wins in four games last week. She was 7-15 at the plate for a .467 average in the four games. She scored five runs, walked once and stole all three bases she attempted. She was also perfect in the field handling eight chances with no errors. "Anna makes things happen," Coach Faye Perkins said. "She's so fast she puts pressure on the defense to make big plays or else she's on base. She's a great addition to our team."

 

 

 

April 2, 2001

First baseman Meghann Mulligan (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) helped the Falcons to a 4-1 record at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament last weekend. She was 6-17 at the plate for a .352 average in the five games. She scored four runs. Against Kalamazoo she was 2-3 with a run scored, two RBIs, a home run and a stolen base. He had the game-winning RBI with her two-run homer in the third inning. Against Superior she went 3-4 with a run scored and four RBIs. She doubled and homered. She hit a two-run homer in the third and had the game-winning RBIs with a one-out double in the seventh that scored two runners.

 

 

March 26, 2001

Shortstop Becky Albrecht (Sr., New Richmond, Wis.) had a solid spring trip for the Falcons. In the team's first five games she was 8-15 at the plate for a .533 average. She had two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored. She ended the spring trip with a .320 batting average.
