DetailsThis course studies the British Empire from the late eighteenth century or "new empire" period until 1947. After the loss of the thirteen North American colonies, Britain embarked upon a new era of empire-building espousing free trade and anti-slavery. The new empire era saw expansion in India, Australia, and Africa. Prerequisite: HIST 102. (F)
