| | | Details | This course provides an introduction to the history of sub-Saharan Africa and it assumes no previous knowledge of African history. This course addresses significant developments in African history from the precolonial to the postcolonial period and examines prominent themes in African history such as the evolution of African states, the development of the Saharan and Indian Ocean trades, the Atlantic Slave Trade, the introduction of colonial rule to Africa, the consolidation of colonial rule, the development of apartheid in South Africa, and post WWII independence movements.
