DetailsThis course is designed to provide students an opportunity to examine a wide variety of topics on multicultural education that focus on education as a social justice and change agent. Through the examination of major themes within multicultural education, students will engage in critical analysis, reflect upon their own beliefs and values, and consider ways in which schools and educators can promote the development of equitable education in the U.S. Focus will be on a mixture of the following topics: gender; ethnicity; race; language; culture; and/or social class and economic opportunity. Prerequisites: Associate Degree in Early Childhood or permission the instructor. (Sp).
