DetailsThis is a writing intensive course. This course is designed to provide an introductory knowledge of social welfare and social work, the philosophy of the methods of social work practice and human behavior in macro systems, the current issues in social welfare, the three major perspectives of social welfare/social work and the professionalization of social work. An integral part of the course is the analysis of personal values and ethics in conjunction with an understanding of social work values and ethics. Also included is a beginning understanding of the systems perspective and generalist social work practice. Prerequisites: SOCI 100, SOWK 150 or consent of instructor.(F)
