| | | Details | This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to gain a meaningful understanding of multicultural education. Students will study the effects and influence of cultural diversity in American education. The topics of cultural diversity include ethnicity and race, gender, SES, religion, exceptionality, language, and learning styles. Students will also study current affairs that influence the educational decisions as they relate to multicultural education. All topics will be studied within the context of history, differing philosophies, and various theories and practices of multicultural education in the United States. Field Experience: Lab experience (participation in the Flacon Tutors Program required). Transportation is provided. Prerequisites: TED 120 or 155 or P ED 161, or AGED 201 or COMD 275. Materials fee required. (F, Sp, SS) |
