| | | Details | The course satisfies elective credit for Economics (both majors and minors) as well as the American Cultural Diversity and General Education Multidisciplinary requirements. In meeting these requirements, the course focuses on discrimination toward African Americans, Women, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and Mexican Americans. Discrimination faced by these groups is examined in historical context. Economic theories of labor market discrimination are then presented. Based on the historical and economic discussion, the course concludes with an examination of the important policy debates (i.e., affirmative action, school choice, and immigration). This discussion connects the cultural, legal, and political implications of these policies to the previous historical and economic analysis (not offered every term). |
