DetailsThis course explores changes that have occurred in the American polity as a result of the increasingly dominant role played by the mass media in framing American politics. The course will focus on the implications of these changes for the meaning and practice of democratic politics. The course will take a broad perspective on the mass media and will include discussions of the impact of popular culture, as well as that of the news media, on our politics. Co-listed as POLS 319.
