This advanced course will examine major shifts in national history focusing on economic, political, social and cultural developments. Special emphasis will be given to the closing of the frontier, industrialization, the rise of corporate capitalism and the consumer culture, urbanization and immigration. The course will also examine the U.S. role in global politics through a study of American imperialism, World War I and World War II. Prerequisite: HIST 104 or consent of instructor.
