| | | Details | Introduction to Ceramics will introduce students to beginning skills within the field of ceramics. Handbuilding (coil, pinch, slab, modeling) and wheel throwing techniques will be taught, learned and explored. Earthernware or Stoneware clay and glazes will be used. Students will explore sculptural, functional and vessel-making traditions as means of expression for ceramic projects. Through readings, slide lectures, films and demonstrations students will develop and expand their knowledge and understanding of historical and cultural perspectives in ceramics.
