| | | Details | The course will define and describe the various pasture and grazing system alternatives. Pasture production and management principles will focus on species and variety selection; establishment methods; maintaining productive, high quality stands; managing the grazing process; and evaluating pasture productivity. Students will learn to design intensive rotational grazing systems, minimize pasture hazards, and design pastures to meet the needs of various classes of livestock such as dairy cows, beef cows and calves, sheep, and horses. Prerequisites: CROP 263 or consent of the instructor, and junior or senior standing. (F) |
