Seniors Student Program Offers Second Session

UW-River Falls will offer two series of classes Senior Outreach Studies: ÒMorning With a ProfessorÓ on Tuesday mornings and ÒA Visit With Area AuthorsÓ on Thursday mornings.
The classes, open to all area seniors age 55 or over, will be held in Rooms 137-138 Rodli Commons from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Each session consists of a presentation, a coffee break and a discussion period.
The Tuesday class, ÒMorning With a Professor,Ó will be held on four Tuesdays beginning Oct. 20. The four Thursday classes, ÒA Visit With Area Authors,Ó will begin Oct. 22.
The Tuesday dates, topics and presenters are:
October 20: ÒOur Place in the Shrinking World: An Anthropological Outlook,Ó Professor Ed Robins, department of sociology.
October 27: ÒGenerational Politics in America in the 21st Century,Ó Professor David Schultz, department of political science
November 3: ÒKenya: A Geographical Perspective,Ó Professor Charles Rader, department of geography.
November 10: ÒThe Implications of Social Security Reform-Winners and Losers,Ó Professor Pascal Ngoboka, economics department.
The Thursday dates, book names and author/presenters are:
Oct. 22: ÒDakota MemoryÓ by Jerry Halvorson, UW-River Falls.
Oct. 29: ÒTrail of DarknessÓ by Karen (Carn) Jenson, River Falls.
Nov. 5: ÒBehind Barbed WireÓ (German WWII prisoners), and
ÒSteamboats on the St. Croix,Ó by Anita Buck, Stillwater, Minn.
Nov. 12: ÒHaunted Wisconsin,Ó ÒHaunted Heartland,Ó and ÒHaunted AmericaÓ by Michael Norman, UW-River Falls professor.
SOS member will receive class information in the mail. Parking permits will be issued at the first class meeting. Others who are interested may call the Office of Continuing Education Extension at 715/425-3256 or 888-228-5607 for information about class fees and registration.
