UW-RF Gallery 101 Starts Season With Painting Exhibition
This fall Gallery 101 at UW-River Falls has gotten a "handle" on painting exhibitions. The season starts off with an invitational painting exhibition of three local Twin Cities artists.
Dan Bruggeman is one of three artists chosen to display his work in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. His series of painted tools on wooden stumps, titled "When the Ax Came Into the Forest the Trees Said, 'The Handle Is One Of Us,' " questions human activity in the forest.
Also invited to show their works are Shana Kaplow and David Madzo. Julie Baugnet, UW-River Falls Curator and painting instructor, chose these particular artists because of their sensibilities toward the painted surface and their diverse imagery.
The painting exhibition will run Aug. 25-Sept. 28, with an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 5 from 12-1 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. -5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
