UW-RF Set Annual Summer Horse Institutes
The UW-River Falls department of animal & food science has announced the schedule for the June 1999 Summer Horse Science Institute.
The institute consists of workshops that will be taught by professional horseman, representing a wide variety of background and experiences. Those who attend will be able to learn such thins as horse management and training, colt training, and riding school instructing. There will also be two youth horsemanship camps.
Horse Management and Training, Horsemanship (equitation), Riding School Instructors Courses will be held during the first week from June 7-11. These sessions will be instructed by Larry Kasten, from UW-River Falls; Jack Brainard, from Aubrey, Texas; Attorney Jack Walsh, from Somerset; and Dr. Robert Racich, DVM, Dr. Peter Rayne, DVM, and Diane Clark, all from River Falls.
For the week of June 14-18 there will be a Youth Summer Horsemanship Camp for intermediate riders. This will be taught by UW-RF instructors and faculty.
The Colt Training Class will be taught from June 21-25 by Larry Kasten, Nathan O'Connor, from River Falls, and Jeff Kasten, from River Falls.
Training and Showing the Reining Horse will be taught June 23-25 by Jeff Kasten. For the final week, June 28-July 2, there will be a second Youth Summer Horsemanship Camp for advanced riders.
