Seniors Outreach Outlines Fourth Session
UW-River Falls will offer two series of classes for Session IV of the Senior Outreach studies: "Morning with a Professor" on Tuesday mornings and "Bits of History" on Thursday mornings.
The classes will be held in Rooms 137-138 of Rodli Commons on the UW-RF campus from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Each session will include a presentation, a coffee break and a discussion period. The sessions are open to all area seniors 55 years of age and older.
The Tuesday class, "Morning with a Professor," will be held on four Thursdays beginning April 22. The four Thursday classes, "Bits of History," will begin April 24.
The Tuesday dates, topics and presenters are:
April 22: "Generational Marketing," Professor Terri Bottum, UW-RF business administration department.
April 29: "Wisconsin Nicaragua Project," Professor Anthony Jilek, UW-RF animal and food science department.
May 6: "The Richard Swensen Sundial," Professor John Sheperd, UW-RF physics department.
May 13: "Modernist Poetry," Professor Lydia Schultz, UW-RF English department.
The Thursday dates, topics and presenters are:
April 24: "Unwanted Wars: Korea and Vietnam," Retired Lt. Col. A.J. Halvorson, River Falls.
May 1: "Les Voyageurs Du Val Du Chippewa," Teri Opfahl and Marge Hebbring, Chippewa Falls.
May 8: "Women and the Social Movements: 19th & 20th Century," Professor Betty Bergland, UW-RF history department.
May 15: "Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War," Lew Mallow, Lincoln enthusiast, Eau Claire.
