UW System President Sets Visit
UW System President Katharine Lyall will visit the UW-River Falls campus on April 29 to meet with students, faculty and staff.
During her day-long visit, Lyall will conduct an open meeting from 2-3 p.m. in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building that is open to the public.
Also, Lyall will visit with elected governance body representatives for the faculty, academic staff and students. She also will lecture on the Politics of American Cities to a political science class. Lyall will accompanied by David Olien, UWS vice president for institutional relations.
Lyall is the fifth president of the University of Wisconsin System and its first woman president.
The UW System includes 26 two- and four-year campuses, with some 150,000 students, and a $2.1 billion annual budget.
Prior to her appointment as president in 1992, she served as vice president for academic affairs and as executive vice president of the UW System.
She also held positions as director of the graduate program in public policy at Johns Hopkins University, and held faculty appointments at Syracuse University, Cornell, and Johns Hopkins. Currently, she is a professor of economics at UW-Madison where she teaches freshman micro-theory.
