Summer Adventures Series Announced
UW-River Falls has announced its class schedule for the Summer 1996 Adventures in Learning session.
Adventures in Learning features non-credit classes for kids and adults as well as special workshops for teachers.
Five classes for kids will be offered:
The Young Naturalist Program explores nature in Glen Park in River Falls. Two sessions will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, one meeting June 11 and 13 and the other meeting June 18 and 20. The cost is $32.
Ballet classes will be offered on six Tuesdays starting June 11 for beginning child, intermediate child/adult and advanced levels. The beginning and intermediate classes cost $36, and the advanced class costs $54.
Creative Movement stresses basic locomotion skills for children through play and dance. The class will be offered Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from June 12-June 21. The cost is $27.
River Falls Gymnastics will be offered May 20-June 14 for four levels. The costs are $30 for Twisters (beginners), $30 for Saltos, $44 for Pre-Team and $59 for Team.
Karate for Kids ages 7-12 will meet eight Wednesdays starting June 12. The cost is $36.
Adult classes include a leadership skills institute titled Parent Involvement in Education, which will take place April 19-20. The cost is $55 for both days, $20 for the first day only and $45 for the second. Continuing education and graduate credit options are available.
Adult Karate will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays June 18-Aug. 8. The cost is $52. UW-RF students can receive .5 credit by enrolling through PE 137.
Ballroom Dance will meet four Thursdays starting July 11. The cost is $39 for couples and $29 for singles.
Recreational Rock Climbing will meet in two groups: one on June 17, 19 and 21 and another on June 24, 26 and 28. The cost is $54.
Backpacking/Wilderness Camping will meet July 9 and 11. The cost is $26.
Kayak Touring on the St. Croix River will meet for orientation and tour in two groups. Group one meets July 12-13, and group two meets July 19-20. The cost is $85, and kayak rental, which can be paid at class, is $35 per person.
Adult seminars and workshops include Continuing Educational Programs for Small Towns: Rural Communities and Economic Development on May 31 and a Grant Proposal Writing Workshop on June 13. The cost to attend this workshop is $59.
Due to increasing enrollment, preregistration is required, and no registrations will be taken at classes. Those who have not registered before classes start are not covered by insurance and will not be allowed to participate.
