'Unity' Multicultural Celebration April 24-25
The Fourth Annual Unity in the Community celebration emphasizing multicultural performances, crafts, food and arts, will be held at UW-River Falls on April 24-25.
The event gives the community and the University a chance to celebrate cultural diversity and is free of charge. Area school children, as well as the public, are invited to attend.
Here is a listing of activities for April 24 :
An outdoor bazaar and student organization fair will be held outside the
Hagestad Student Center beginning at 10 a.m.
Performances by the internationally known Jesse White Tumblers at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. This group has been performing for 37 years, and their tumbling act is frequently seen during half-time shows for the National Basketball Association, Continental Basketball, the National Football League, and Major League Baseball games.
Native American Pow Wow at 10:30 a.m.
Electric Arab Orchestra and Belly Dancers at 11:30 a.m.
Trio Tripo at 1:30 p.m.
Friendship in the age of AIDS at 8 p.m. in North Hall Auditorium will feature speakers Joel A. Goldman and T.J. Sullivan. The presentation's emotion and humor has made it one of the nation's most successful AIDS awareness programs.
April 25 highlights include:
Tropical Islanders, a Caribbean musical group at 11:30 a.m.
Comedians Willie Myles, John DeBoer and Micheal Thorne at 8 p.m. in Brandy's in the Hagestad Student Center.
