WRFW Radio Run by Students
At the UW-River Falls over 70 students work as announcers, newscasters, sportscasters and managers at the 3,000 watt non-commercial radio station WRFW.
The station is licensed to the UW System Board of Regents and operates as a division of the Journalism Department.
Professor Mike Norman, general manager/adviser, says, "A management position at WRFW is excellent practical training in broadcast operations."
Working at WRFW during Spring semester are the following students, their titles, years in school and majors, by hometown.
River Falls: Kevin Tlougan, station manager; 3rd year majoring in broadcast journalism; Jason Winget, assistant engineer; 3rd year majoring in computer systems.
Shoreview, Minn.: Jon Fuith, program director; 4th year majoring in speech communications.
Hudson: Mark Olson, sports director; 4th year majoring in broadcast journalism.
Red Wing, Minn.: Mike Kulstad, news director; 4th year majoring in broadcast journalism.
Tomahawk: Jayne T. St. Mary, promotions director; 4th year majoring in English.
Norwalk: Maria Klinkner, farm director; 4th year majoring in broad area agriculture.
Afton, Minn.: Brett Kallusky, music director; 2nd year majoring in broad area art.
