Web Seminar Offered on Tourism Business Promotion
Two seminars are being offered to help tourism and hospitality business owners make better use of the World Wide Web for promotional purposes.
Webbed Feet 1 and 2 will be offered March 17-18 at UW-River Falls. The seminars are a collaborative project between the St. Croix Valley Regional Tourism Alliance, Pressenter, and UW-RF. The Alliance includes 19 communities in Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties in Wisconsin, and Dakota, Washington and Chisago counties in Minnesota. Pressenter is an internet service provider serving western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.
Webbed Feet 1 will serve as an introduction to internet promotion in the hospitality and tourism industry. It will provide information on basic Web surfing, how to research customers and competition on line, commercial transactions, review some of the best tourism Web sites, and provide advice on chosing a Web page designer and internet service provider.
It is from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on March 17 in the UW-RF Chalmer Davee Library computer labs.
Webbed Feet 2 will teach seminar participants how to build a basic Home Page. This will include learning the fundamentals of Web page design, posting a page on the internet, and how to monitor visitor traffic. The seminar also will explore advanced Web page design techniques such guest books, forms, animations and responding to customers through cyberspace.
That seminar will be held on March 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the UW-RF Chalmer Davee Library computer labs.
The cost for SCVRTA members is $25 for Webbed Feet 1, $50 for Webbed Feet 2, or $60 for both. Non-member fees are $50 for Webbed Feet 1, $100 for Webbed Feet 2, or $120 for both.
