Australian Soloist to Perform at UW-RF
Australian coloratura soprano Lisa-Maree Lockland, accompanied by Norma Marschke, will perform a voice recital Feb. 19 at UW-River Falls. Sponsored by the musical arts committee, the recital is set for 8 p.m. in Abbott Concert Hall, Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
Lockland completed her Diploma of Music at the Queensland Conservation of Music in Australia in 1993. Her repertoire covers styles from opera to jazz.
Lockland has been featured as soloist with the State Ballet Company, the State Philharmonic, the State Symphonic Orchestra, the State Pops Orchestra, and the State Chamber Ensemble, all of Queensland, Australia. Marschke, an accomplished artist, trained as a concert pianist. Her career highlights include an Expo '88 performance for an audience of 16,000, a recital for the King and Queen of Spain, and performances for the Adelaide Festival, Brisbane Biennial, National Academy in Melbourne, and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
While at UW-RF, Lockland and Marschke will hold coaching sessions on Feb. 18 and a workshop on Feb. 19 in Room 134, Kleinpell. The workshop is open to the public.
