Olympian Sanders Named Outstanding H&HP Student
Bryan C. Sanders, a senior from Stillwater, Minn., has been named the UW-River Falls Outstanding Physical Education Student for 1994-95.
"He has done a tremendous amount of things in addition to being an outstanding student," health and human performance department Professor Warren Kinzel said.
Sanders has been active with various Olympic ski events, including competing on the 1992 United States Olympic Team in three ski jumping events, placing 36th, 37th and 12th. He was the 1989 Junior National Champion, a U.S. Ski Team Member from 1989-1993, and a member of the 1989 and 1991 World Championship Teams.
Sanders became the youngest inductee into the St. Paul Ski Hall of Fame in October 1994. He has been a United States Ski Association Central Junior Development coach since 1994. This past summer he volunteered at the Wisconsin Special Olympics in Stevens Point.
Sanders has been active on campus in the Health and Human Performance Club for physical education majors and minors, intramurals, and the Fellowship for Christian Athletes.
In June, Sanders will be one of the carriers of the Olympic Torch, as it travels through the Twin Cities on its way to Atlanta for the start of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games.
