Events Director Joins International Board
Jerry Waller, director of conferences and events at UW-River Falls, has joined the Board of Directors for the Association of Conferences and Events Directors-International.
ACED-I is the only independent organization dedicated to professional growth and development in collegiate conferencing and events planning. Founded in 1980, ACED-I has over 850 members throughout the United States and Canada, and its headquarters is located on the campus of Colorado State University.
Waller will serve as a board member through 1998 and plans to research and represent small- and medium-sized conference operations.
Waller believes that ACED-I should strive to continue to provide high quality educational opportunities and continue to expand the professionalism of conference services within a collegiate setting.
Also, Waller hopes the ACED-I will compile and publish research on the benefits of centralized and professional conference services; continue to lead in representing conference services during legislative action; and educate the membership of pending action.
At UW-RF, Waller recruits, contracts and administers all off-campus client contracts and manages the summer housing operation.
Waller, who has been in the conference planning business for seven years, has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and a master's degree in counseling and student development from Mankato State University in Minn.
Along with his new role as a board member, Waller is affiliated with the Meeting Planners International, the National Orientation Directors Association, the National Association of Campus Activities, and the River Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.
