UW-RF Hosts 30th Annual Forensics Tournaments
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls recently hosted its 30th Annual College and University Forensics Tournament with 200 students from 16 colleges and universities across the Midwest attending.
Gustavus Adolphus College captured first place school sweepstakes honors, beating out second place Minnesota State University-Moorhead and third place Winona State University. The tournament, hosted annually at UW-RF, is sponsored by the UW-RF chapter of Delta Sigma Rho-Tau Kappa Alpha, the national honorary forensics society. As host school, UW-RF is ineligible for school sweepstakes awards.
UW-RF student Marci Brenner, a junior from Durand majoring in English, received first place honors in both the Poetry and Prose events. Brenner is the President of DSR-TKA.
In all, students from five states attended the tournament, including students from Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota and Iowa. The tournament was directed by UW-RF speech communications and theatre arts Professor James W. Pratt, along with Director of Forensics Kathleen Olsen.
