UW-RF Sets Free Concert Dec. 11

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Symphony Band concert will be performed on Thursday, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. in Abbott Concert Hall located in Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. This event is free and open to the public.

The 55-member ensemble will be directed by Professor Kristin Tjornejoj and perform John Philip Sousa’s "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," and "Pathfinder of Panama." The music is inspired by the spirit, glamour, and excitement of New York City. Johan de Meij's "The Big Apple", will also be featured. This piece explores the various musical styles of and tributes Aaron Copland, John Adams, and Leonard Bernstein. Premiered in 1994 by the Air Force Band in Washington, D.C., the work features a non-musical intermezzo of a compilation of city sounds from Times Square.
